I set a similar trap last year on a small river overnight and the next morning there was some Stone Loaches in it. Talking to a few old anglers and one fisheries man none of them knew there was Stone Loaches in the river, which was nice. Obviously I released them.

Mary, that is a very strange one IMO. Does his dog have a normal crap the next morning ? I'd have to spend an entire day with a successful greyhound trainer without taking my eye off him for a second if that's the way he said he feeds. There is no way at all that any animal has taken all the goodness out of it's food within a half an hour.

agreed, I do it by eye, but I wouldn't give a dog garlic. Because it thins the blood ? I've been giving all my livestock garlic for years with no side effects. I usually give it for 6 or 7 days and then off for a week or two. Young poultry have it in their water 24/7.

The feeding of greyhounds and racehorses is an exact science because the clock is your master. Everyone in that game is treating their animals to the best of their ability but the man who's animal is a fraction of a second faster than his opponent has the winner. Terriers on the other hand are a hunting dog who's ability is measured differently. Common sense is the secret to feeding terriers and it's obvious that good meat is better than anything that comes out of a bag or a can. I feed pasta too a few times a week but often wonder do dogs need carbs but they do eat it. I have one bitch who'

Exactly. There's no point in having a heart the size of a house and a body the size of a mouse. A little terrier like that will die or quit. Over the years I've only ever seen a few (what I'd consider) small terriers who were very good. I always admired these but they're not for me. No doubt we're going to see the quote "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog." But that's the way to bet.

If he's fit and healthy and weighs more than he looks that's always a good thing IMO. It's one of the most important physical traits in a terrier IMO. Tail and ear carriage, spanable, feet and legs etc. 90% of the time are a cosmetic requirement in a terriermans eye IMO. But a good solid physique covered in a good weather proof jacket will do me every time.

The only place I've ever seen a terrier spanned is the show ring and then it's usually by a judge who thinks more of lookers than workers. I can safely say that in a conversation with other terrier men the topic of spanning has never come up. Personally I think you should try and get away with as big a terrier as possible as their job is tough and there's no point in a terrier being very game if it's a 12 lb rat with a beak instead of a muzzle. IMO there's no excuse for weak weedy terriers and to expect them to work hard is not fair. Also, at the end of the day we've all seen 18 lb dog fox

It's a funny ol' world when you can get a straight banana but can't get a similar TV presenter.

Hungarian Village Wants To Be A White Utopia.....
neil cooney replied to Blackbriar's topic in General Talk
Why not....no harm done if you look the same as them share a similar culture and fully integrate And not being a sponge also helps I agree. What about traditions ? Would you leave them behind ? For example, would you force some of your real ales on the Hungarians ? -
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2017/02/05/superbowl-weekend-commercial-exposes-the-corrupt-business-scheme-of-humane-society/ Since we have a few new members on here from the States I thought I'd put this up. It was a great move putting it on just before the Superbowl, whatever that is.

So, it seems a lot of you boys would like to be immigrants to those Hungarians ?????? -
I've seen them Larry. But the tea and coffee was effortless and they came up nice. I was just wondering do they stay stained or revert to bleached white after a short while.

That pic would be nice in a frame Woods.

Jok, I have an eight pointer that's a real nice head and I made a plaque to put it on and cleaned the skull but want to put some colour back into the antlers so I used a lesser pair to test.

I have 3 Patterdales. Two of them are easy going though are kept outside in kennels and one of them is an absolute liability. Game as f**k and won't think twice about trying to take another dog out the game if he wishes. He was bitten by a Cane Corso when he was a pup which may have had something to do with it. Socialize it socialize it and socialize it. Pain in the arse having to keep him on the lead all the time and having a dog who will take try and take your mates dog out by hanging off its throat is somewhat frowned upon. I keep the psycho on a lead 90% of the time and the other 10 I watc

With it pissing rain all day I dug out a pair of ten year old Sika antlers, brushed them off and stained them using tea and coffee to see the result and to be fair, they looked good . Just wondering have any of you chaps used tea and coffee and if so did the colour last ?

But is it not better to see your kids out breaking bones and dying than been stuck playing on a computor all day. I think Park-our is now a recognised sport and you'll probably see it in the olympics.

Nice to see a different type of hole (the earth, not the terriermans) for a change on here.

If I can ever find a way of entwining stories of a lot of hunting with lovemaking to 100s of beautiful women I might then write my life story.I'll call it 50 shades of Patterdales, LOL. Neil thought you would of used.50 shades of soil. Or 50 shades of Clay ?
-
Is that a Lynx ?
-
No it's true, I've also done a lot of hunting too.

I disagree.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess we in the good ol' Emerald isle should start to ask the farmers who freely give us permission on their 100 acre farms to start opening up gaps and gateways to their neighbours so that us lazy terriermen can drive a quad and don't have to carry big heavy dirty shovels on our feeble shoulders while a couple of troublesome terriers on a couple dislocate our arm from it's socket.

I saw that program on Lemmy last year. I thought it was really sad. Living the dream to him was living alone in a rented flat and going to the bar and hoping to bump into someone to talk to. RIP Lemmy. Lemmy didn't come across to me like that , I saw him as a bloke who was very switched on articulate & sharp as a tack, clearly comfortable with his own thoughts & company, I genuinely think he frequented the Rainbow so as he was accessible to people who loved him & Motorhead. He toured none stop because he loved performing , right up to his death 11th Dec was his last gig ,
