  1. So you're saying that a total amount of spoiled votes being roughly the same as the rest of the parties combined is normal practise ?.........not from what ive been told its not but then its not my game i dont know.
  2. Just out of curiosity have you asked him what it is he's copped the hump about if he was cool with it a year ago ?.....might it be that he's got the rough side of the fence ?.....seen plenty of fall outs about who gets the rough and who gets the smooth maybe a compromise would be to spin them round if it thats the case and it dont bother you.
  3. ?....they put a plan in place and it worked,it really is that simple.....i only recently learned that spoiled votes have to be witnessed and recorded id love to have a look through some of them findings ?
  4. His over confidence going into the Hagler fight was due to the fact he had beaten Antuofermo twice quite comfortably whereas Hagler only drew with him i think it might even been the fight after Hagler drew with him that Minter beat him to get the title......but yes agreed regardless,Hagler every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
  5. As i remember he had said he would never lose his title to a black man.....ooops. It would be fair to say there was a large contingent of NF in the arena that night i always remember Harry Carpenters commentary " people are throwing beer cans into the ring one just landed on me "..........not the cleverest night for British boxing unfortunately.
  6. Fair enough....but if you add the votes of the Independent who put the leaflets out in the first place to the f**k off's its pretty much even........either way its a big statement in a constituency that only 3 years ago had a 65k turnout with 250 spoiled votes.
  7. Apparently there was more spoiled votes than the rest of the votes combined ! Ok after the David Amess thing the Torys were always going to romp home on sympathy votes alone......but the spoiled ballots speak volumes in quite a clever way in fairness.
  8. Well Mr.Bosun sir, thankyou once again you have definitely become my " go to " film critic on here !.....what a film. Im into one of my insomnia stages lately and whacking films on at ridiculous hours....put this Railway Man on the other night but thought it was going to be a love story and lost interest....then someone else told me about it so gave it another go ...fantastic......strangely satisfying ending i must be getting old !....cheers
  9. " David Moyes purple & blue army "............nah im not having that !
  10. I'll have a look through that mate cheers.....they must have cleaned the bridge up a bit for the photos eh ? Tate & Lyle is still just about there but going through an almighty battle not to get flattened, but it will.......i think the regeneration of the area is great but the down side is it creates an even bigger gap between the wealthy and the poor its like Rathbone Market when the flats went up the council promised all the stall holders it would still be a market.....the space is there to still have it but do the high flyers who bought the flats really want to buy cheap tat off the
  11. ? Folk always associate Minter with East London but he wasnt even a Londoner he was from down Gatwick way managed by old man Bidwell.....in fairness the last place Minter should of been training was above a pub bless him !
  12. He's nobody famous mate just another scruffy little oik out the flats ?....in them days if you boxed for West Ham or Repton as a kid you would train at The Oak on a Sunday morning to be around the big names of the day and seasoned old timers etc....yes Frank trained there as did many others it was probably the most sought after gym for sparring in the country at the time.
  13. This was upstairs late 70's it was a great combination of rough old boys and spiteful young kids ?.....its a shame really its been a cash converters, estate agents, now a restaurant........money is creeping into the area now but yes you're right it should go back to being a pub.
  14. Im told there was a record number of spoiled ballots which was solely down to the campaigning of the British Freedom Party.......i believe every home in Southend received a BFP leaflet via the good old postie requesting either a no vote or spoiled ballot. In 2019 65,000 votes went in with 250 spoiled ballots. The other week 15,000 votes went in with 1000 spoiled ballots. People are starting to listen.
  15. It was about 3 years ago ?......geezers half a loon....one of these unannounced fancy dress types sometimes its funny other times you just have to turn him round and send him home ?
  16. Grown men wearing tracksuits away from sport no im not having that ?.....reminds me of a night out a few years back we was all off out for a nice meal and my pal bowls up in an old Woolworths type tracksuit top, black pe shorts,a pair of long grey school socks and them noncey pe slippers with the nasty elastic bit across the front....oh man he got some laughs, fair play though he kept it on all night and had treacles flocking over him !
  17. Who cares as long as they're not blue !
  18. Yeah its not an easy starter dive at all ive since found out.....never mind % oxygen and all the other technical caper......visibility is virtually f**k all !
  19. Watching folk diving or even just jumping into the sea off rock faces in Greece and other such hot places makes me so jealous it looks magnificently refreshing......its never really been the snapping my spine or smashing my skull that bothers me just the going under water bit ! A mate of mine is mad into this Scuba diving lark he's constantly reeling off these stories of different shipwrecks around the world he's dived at..... he tried to talk me into doing a wreck thats apparently off the coast of Canvey Island as an easy starter dive ?.....nah mate sorry.......id love to do it though it
  20. You say that and yes the docks side of the A13 has changed beyond belief.....but Canning Town,Poplar,Plaistow and suchlike really havent changed much at all.....ok the Olympics tore through Stratford but Barking Rd for instance still looks exactly the same as it did.....someone sent me pictures of the old Royal Oak Pub back years ago with the boxing gym above....and how it is today as a Turkish Restaurant......a lot of these old buildings are Grade 2 so unlikely to change very much and the people, well there was always plenty of tribes the only difference now is East Europeans.....but theres st
  21. Interesting post that mate nice one.....i have a few copies of a book called Cargoe's and Capers tucked away somewhere i,ll dig one out if you'd like it,im not much of a book reader myself and only got given them by a boxing pal who is on the front cover !.....but yes its a fascinating area full of tradition ok its nothing like it used to be but in my biased opinion has to be one of the most impressive urban transformations in the nations history.....i spent most of the 90's as a Towner but never really got over to the island much beyond some of the pubs where you'd find all manner of skulldug
  22. Equally though the "dress code " pet hate does go the other way as well theres nothing worse than when your pal wears his best whistle to go for a Sunday roast !......." just cos i pulled you on your scruffy jeans last week....now it just looks like you're trying too hard " ?
  23. Hark at me on about dress codes i leave the house looking like Scooby f****n Doo most days ?
  24. I book about 45 as the cut off point for white trainers.....its got to then be the old Super Samba or equivalent if trainers are still to be worn.....trotters maketh the man and all that.
  25. Good for you boss.....exactly the same as me id be sat around the pool on holidays and stuff jealous of folk diving in the pool doing a quick few lengths then returning to their lounger all refreshed.....being the bronzed adonis i am/was probably looked a bit of a fanny carefully walking down the steps and making it obvious im only willing to go where i can still stand up !.....in my case it wasnt buoyancy, lack of co ordination or any of that stuff i was just scared of going under the water, simple. You have to conquer these things though.....after years finally had some proper lessons the
