  1. I would say about 20" and some are a touch bigger, not sure of the exact size they breed to, they need to have more leg because of the fell land they hunt. Pointer of this site might know as he has been out with them alot this season. Dave.
  2. Had a quick walk round my permission this morning with Fern the 9 month old Lab bitch and my youngest Lad. As we arrived we found ourselves in a snow blizzed so it didnt look good, but after wines from my lad and the pup we had a quick look about. Fern My Lad, the rabbit carrier Fern pointing rabbits tucked under the reeds Fern is just a nice size to hunt through the Gorse and she loves to fly through the thick stuff, a few cuts on her nose will not put her off Up onto the tops and the going starts getting tough Fern is starting to learn to get right
  3. GWP is German Wirehaired Pointer, there blood is becoming more popular with Lurcher breeders. Pointer of this site has one and she is a very versatile and capable hunter. Dave.
  4. No that young lads not me Goldfinch, i dont whip in for the Weadale beacause of time but get out with them when i can. I need to make more time to get out with hounds. All the best Dave.
  5. I dont think the Staffy x Pat would be the best at rabbiting, they take a few in cover but getting them to retrieve the rabbit without shreading it will be another downfall. Like Dogs n native said above, a lurcher would be your best bet and there is alot of crosses to choose from, in my opinion you need to be looking at the Collie based, Beddlington Based or GWP based lurchers, from working lines all will do you a good job. Let us know how you get on. Dave,

  11. There is also the Weardale and Tees Valley Beagles, nice frendly bunch of lads. Dave.
  12. I remember someone on here getting a pup about 10 months ago but carnt find the link, there is also a few on the pigeon watch forum and all seem to look like small GWP and seem handy dogs. Dave.
  13. Mine was an excellent retriever until he was 2 then he stopped, this was mainly due to me getting a Terrier and the competition made him either run off or just give in to the terrier, it also made him hard mouthed. If you work him alone just go back to basics and make it into a big game. Dave.
  14. Nice looking bitch and an entertaining clip, looks like she is coming on well with her training. Thanks for sharing Dave.
  15. Nice lookking dogs lads and 6pointer i love to see a lab face cover, my fern is much like yours, she loves it Dave.
  16. Where is the big fella at Pointer, is he finishing off your boots , i see santa has got you some new ones for Alfi to chew Nice pics HH, looks like you had a canny morning Dave.
  17. Real bonnie pup there 6pointer. Stalking is something i really fancy getting into but i am so busy with all my other shooting at the minuet. I am thinking of getting my FAC to keep a few foxes down on the lamp, so i suppose stalking would be the next step from there. 2 pups out of my Ferns litter went to Scotland as stalkers dogs and her mother is used as well, but by the time i get round to it i may have missed my window with her but she dose pick things up real quick so you never know. Dave.
  18. Nice pic hily, i love working the dogs through the reed beds and 13 is good going in a hour, how many lads and dogs were out. Dave.

  20. Nice pics LW, the dogs are looking well mate. Dave.
  21. She looks quality Baz, a real stunner I bet its lively in your house this Christmas . Good luck with her mate. Dave.
  22. Thats one nice looking Lab 6pointer, is it mainly stalking you do with her and how do you find her for stalking against a GWP or GSP. Dave.
  23. This may seem harsh but any pups with the defects should be put to sleep so you can concentrate your efforts on the health litter members, i know if you reduce the food intake of the Dam it will reduce the milk, but this seems a very strange case, like Beechessam says talk to a vet and follow there advice, even if it is harsh on the defected pups. Good luck and keep us informed. Dave.
  24. Thanks alot for all the kind replies And all the best to you and yours for Christmas Dave.
