  7. Wm, we are talking about breeding dogs not the laws of Ireland, as a matter of fact when a law is passed in England or Europe, Irish politicians normally espouse it as gospel. We're not all thick micks, an your last post is as educating for an anti, as someone bragging about dogs that can only be dug to once or twice a year. Workwise i prefer mixer/bayer, but would prefer to breed of a dog that can handle his quarry if needs be.
  8. Not naive deemac, there's a difference between working and breeding. Most people i know would choose a dog that wouldn't be knocked around, ie a hardish dog...that's why people had bull to lines to stiffen them...unless the bitch being bred was a strong type..
  9. Just thinking would a pat not have been more suitable? If there's not a large working gene pool of plummers, why not go for the best lines availible? Not knocking. Agree with the sentiment. Probably chose russel for the white gene...He's said the dog works 100% and you can't get better than that and that's maybe why he chose it eh . Good luck WC and have even thought of doing the same with my plummer and russell dog as it goes and the best of luck with your project. it was the steady part of the description i was thinking about. Most lads round my would have went for a hard type..foll

  11. What way is the russel bred? What were your reasons for pluming for him (pardon the pun)
  12. Why whats wrong with the new setup?
  13. had fox terrier bitch couldnt fault it first class bushing dog. i think irish terrier was a drawing dog Multi-purpose vermin dog, original dogs were smaller, very dog agressive originally.....crossed with other breeds made very good rabbiters
  14. No there true working if they work......he's probably looking for some old irish hunt lines like McCalmont's etc......line's that would have been crossed with english terriers.....whats your beef?
  15. any Gouldy in her, seen a few out of Gouldy's stuff came like that......
  16. Its normally passed on from mother to pup and remains on the dog for the rest of its life breaking out periodically. Two shots of ivermection will clear most of it up. I think usage is .10 of a ml per 10lb. Don't give to dogs with collie blood in them.
  17. @hawki......theres pics up on smooth russell thread, but i haven't took any of the others yet.........
  18. If there lithium batteries, you should keep them between 20% and % of capacity and only give a full charge once every couple of months...Always store them at around half charge when there not in use.........
