  1. make it your best mate. try and get a copie of the dvd. purdies progress. and take in the above advice. stock training is VERY important as is obedience. but most important enjoy. as you will only ever get one chance of owning your first lurcher
  2. before bull crosses i remember most fox dogs wher mixed breeding not beddy greyhounds. allthough there was beddy grehounds the majority of good fox dogs where deerhoundgrehound collie geyhound and a mixture of these as well as sudry other mixed breeds. including english bull and staff. thats just how i remember it come to think of it most of the good ones had a bit of deerhound in em
  3. i wuld go with that. this way you get more use of the dog you have. and a pup from your own dog thats (done a bit) will be worth more to you than a pup out of a dog that hasnt done a lot.
  4. i heard Sid is calling himself S. now. he has to as somew fecker stole his ID.

  5. traps would keep the numbers down . then either get a strimmer into the cover or wait till the frost does the job. put some live catch family traps down pre bait em then set em
  6. i will also throw in an sd hc card 8 gig no shite please edited to add pm please
  7. THIS IS IN MINT CONDITION . NEVER USED APART FROM TRYING IN THE HOUSE. i cant work the bloody thing so will sell or swap will sell for around 150. or swap for air rifle or terrier locator or good digi. Scotland. lanarkshire
  8. i use a russell and plummer. both are good. but the plummer has the edge on top
  9. big george used to come down this neck of the woods many years ago after foxes
  10. you can put a dog with the best of breeding in a messers hands and it wont make a good dog. but you can put an average animal in the hands of a good dogman and he will make something out of it. the old saying comes to mind. and some fell on stony ground any dog that is a top worker generally has a top owner. so i would give credit to the owner
  11. i have fun with my wheaten whippet and a couple of terriers. allthough my lurcher tends to end up in the cover when he should be outside waiting for the bolt
  12. If i could only keep one and there was nothing to seperate them in there nature i would go with the smallest of the two. nice pups
  13. nearly ever genuine working wheaten i,ve seen from a long line of workers have nearly been worse than pure bulls when it comes to other dogs etc.. Beat me to it paddy .... Beat me to it as well. They are game dogs .End of story. wheatens are far from game dogs it does not make them a game dog when they try to fight with another dog would that be ALL wheatens. i cant speak about pure wheatens but i have a crossbred. that has took to the wheaten. and he is a hundred percent with folk. and is good with all my terriers. (bitches). he wont tollerate another dog gi
  14. i used t follow his ramblings on moochers. he wasnt called ditch then. but he was just as entertaining and i miss his posts. glad to see he has packed in the fags. i hope to follow suite very soon. and one day i may shake his hand.
  15. wheaten x whippet. first cross the coat isnt a problem . clip in spring and leave well alone in the winter months. ive found my first cross is a very usefull dog. and he has never thrown a sicky in five seasons. you have to wonder if he had more sighthound blood how many sick days would there have been. especially as i run him on very rought ground
  16. i like the first cross. but then i like a sturdy dog. and i'm willing to sacrifice a little pace. to get a more durable animal
  17. different type to the bitch i have here, athletic dog you have there. thats the same type as the kizzy bitch. very similar. just a male version. and a stronger looking head
  18. cg. she had a bite like a croc and self entered at nine months. really promising bitch sadly died before fullfilling her promise.
  19. i had a bitch i brought up to scotland for my brother. buck breay lines. she was an ugly f****r finished 15 and a half inch far to big for what we wanted. jet black smooth coated she had a small snipey head and prick ears. she was named kizzy after the daughter of the famous kunta kinti. from the series roots that had just finished. some of the older members might be able to put a date on that there are some pics of buck and breay bred terriers in plummers book the fell terrier. brea has a very similar terrier in one pic. prick ears an all as an aside. both buck and breay enjoyed a show
  20. i agree with the above post. 100 per cent. one example springs to mind. the mateing of the ilfracolm badger digging dogs to the fell terriers. produced some good terriers. and i'm sure there are other examples. i also beleive that a dog from good working stock weather tested or not has as much potential to throw the same or better quality as its siblings that past with flying colours. i wouldnt recomend useing anything but the best tested to the best tested. but in breeding nothing is set in stone. one of the most inteligent and best workers ive seen to ground was a pet to pet breeding. as lo
