  1. ive had so me good russells . still have a couple. i also now have a couple of plummers. and speaking from experience . I DISAGREE
  2. rian doesnt deserve this.

  3. all my plummers retrieve naturally. wish my lurcher was as good. gotta say they dont like letting go without a tug of war they have good noses and speak in cover. they can be a little gassy though. allthough ive seen beddies that like a scrap as well. a well trained plumer would be hard to beat.
  4. if you mean wheaten/whippet. they can make good rabbit dogs allthough some may be a little hard mouthed. these pics are of the heaviest in a litter of first crosses.
  5. Right AA this is my take on it. Back in 1988 Brian Nuttall gave a talk night in the Dog & Partridge pub, in Pemberton, Wigan, for the old Wigan Dog Club of which I was the Chairman. As always Brian was articulate, well spoken and a font of knowlage of all things working terrier and hunting. At the end of the evening he took an open forum Q&A, the pub was packed full and I can remember the same two questions being repeated over... 1. What is the difference between his old and new stock? 2. Has he put any bull blood in his dogs? On Q1, Brian stated that there was no differenc

  8. cant believe you missed vampire
  9. so terriers that show/walkout are usefull??????????????? suit yourself speaking for myself here but i have no place in my yard for jackers. of course they are usefull. for pest control they are the bollocks. they are just useless for digging to. so are more suited to bolting foxes.
  10. speak for yourself lad. personnally i never done or witnessed two terriers going to ground at the same time?? that was until the end of last season when i was invited to southern ireland through a friend off a friend and these fellas thought it was ""THE DONE THING""??????? i couldn't believe my eyes. to say the least i won't be on a green field with them again... IMO if 1 terrier on it's own cannot do the job it was breed to do, it aint worth a batt. the same applies to lurchers. we've all done things starting out as kids that we wouldnt dream of doing now. like i said we were kids lear
  11. hello aitor many people over here prefare to eject(bolt) the fox. i find that it is more efficiant. and prefare this method. everyone has different idea's. and i wouldnt condemn anyone elses ways. but would expect a single dog to do the job. i also respect your ways. but wouldnt allways agree with them. yours in sport.
  12. SORRY ALI I CANT TAKE CREDIT FOR THAT DOG. ITS NOT MY DOG. BUT IS A WORKER. YIS CS
  13. i have a bitch that was an ok worker nothing special but nothing to write home about however at three years old and after having a litter of pups she totaly changed, and is now twice the dog she was in terms of her drive etc.. sorry all that was in referance to "when does a plummer mature " thanks bedlam. all my plummers are keen to go at a very young age. but are still maturing at two years old. entered early and they would have been ruined.
  14. this dog is owned by a lad off this site. it carries scares old and new and is a plummer.
  15. the nights are fair drawing in

  16. Not half as much as Parson John Russell would be after some muppet added Beagle blood to his well said fuk all wrong with cross breeding any breed. as long as your honest about it. good luck with the sale. and finding good working homes
  17. the bitch in the pic looks like its got a belly full of pups. thanks for shareing
  18. what height is the dog? hes a lovly looking animal, did you breed him? atb fen he is 23 inch ttt. and i bought him in he is off a working wheaten and a laguna whippet. a more recent pic
  19. i dont think the 1/8th of greyhound in the whippet would of made any difference to the dog. tel me this what does a greyhound add to a whippet bar size size can be an advantage. and there must be an advantage or there wouldnt be so many big whippets about. mike browns whippets have a dash of greyhound in them i'm told. doesnt seem to be doing them much harm. it would be better if someone with experience of breeding these types of whippets could give there reasons for the cross. as i havnt got enough first hand experience. cs
  20. good pic. darcy' one i took portavadie marina.
  21. i dont think the 1/8th of greyhound in the whippet would of made any difference to the dog. i disagree trigger. a dash of blood from a different breed can make the world of a difference and will carry on a lot farther than one eigth. and if you think about it most working whippets have a dash of some other breed in there make up. so when they are bred together there will be benefits. do you think a whippet with 1 eigths bull in its makeup would be the same as a straight whippet
  22. a couple where KC and some where raceing whippets. i cant talk for all whippets just the one's ive seen. ive owned a beddy/whippet that would and did go to ground at every chance. and gave a good account of himself. to me a whippet is the kc type. the rest are working whippets and all the better for it. they generally have a dash of something else in there makeup. the best small whippet i saw was 1 eighths greyhound it was a cracker. and looked just like a whippet. but then it wasnt was it. not knocking your dogs. just my thoughts on the matter
