I think that is a Merlin, or it could be a Hobby, but the white cheeks should be showing if it was a Hobby. TC

I have never owned or used a locator and in 50 years plus ferreting I have lost one, down a limestone fissure. Locator or not you would have needed dynamite to get it out. That said, a few have gone missing for a couple of days, but always had them back. TC

That was Kevi from Melbourne, he used car door locking solinoids to drop the net. Bloody good idea. Don't know if this will work on here but here is a link to the post he made about the auto drop net on my site. http://netsandnetting.**"£$%^&*(.com/thread/19/auto-drop-net TC Copy and paste the link in to your browser but Substitute the %^&* for p.r.o.b.o.a.r.d.s leaving out the full stops. As p.r.o.b.o.a.r.d.s is a banned word on here. TC

When a dog has served you well, I consider it a privilege to end any pain he may be in. Yes it's sad, but you know after all they have given you it is the last act of kindness you can do for them. RIP TC

From what I have seen so far, they have raised the profile of Lurcher and Longdog owners with the countryside alliance. So now after many years of being ignored, they actually have someone to listen to what L/L owners have to say. Have shown that the majority of L/L owners are not like the facebook freaks. They have a code of conduct in place which is all within the law as it stands. Everyone would like to see the ban overturned, but that is not going to happen without representation for L/L by the people who are making the representations to overturn or amend the act. Getting amendmen

A mate of mine years ago persuaded his wife to have a threesome with another woman. She left him with 4 kids for the other woman. Moral, be careful what you wish for. TC

Every one gets it wrong at some time or other, if they say the don't then they are liars, fact. It is just like anything else knowing what you can get away with and what has to be rectified and how to do those rectifications. That I'm afraid only comes with experience. As Leeview stated you done 11 rows without mistakes, what was stopping you making another 11 rows. So you made a mistake and will make more in the future, but you have only had the kit for a couple of days, walk before you try to run. TC Edited to add: people who try and fail yet try again, often succeed to a very high l

As someone who still does his share of unpicking. The easiest way is to cut back each mesh as tight to the knot as you can get it, then just pull the half mesh straight and taught and the knot usually ping's of the mesh. TC

A problem a lot of people get when starting to knit their own nets is, the do not do it long enough for the muscle memory to kick in, once that kicks in it is like falling off a log. TC

Moaning About Mole Catching, Topics ?
Tiercel replied to earth-thrower's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
I follow this forum, and really enjoy it. But I never trap or snare (rats in the back garden apart). The mole threads really interest me as I know very little of the life of a mole and would like to know more. I have no plans to become a moley and to be honest it would bore the tits off me, but though reading the threads I am slowly building a picture in my mind of the life of the mole. How true to life that picture is is any ones guess, but it keeps me happy. So keep on with the mole posts I say. TC -
Just another thought, you say your left handed and as you say all the videos are for right handed people. Have a look at this post that I made regarding repairing nets scroll down to the part where knots is in bold. Every right handed person knits from left to right, so when you make the bite on the knot the twine is exiting the knot the way they are travelling, (that is why people turn the net over to get the twine all running the same way) to do that they throw the loop to the left of the knot they are about to make, then go around the back up through the loop and exit on the right hand side
-
It could be the way the twine was loaded on to the spool, nothing to do with you. Try, putting the spool horizontal with the twine coming off the top of the spool, ( a small box does this job well) pull a yard or so of twine off the spool and cut it and let the end you cut drop, if it spins it is more than likely that it is a fault with the spool, if it does not spin then it is the way you are loading the needle that is causing the twist. TC
