  1. I get the feeling that blackgreyhound is a wind-up merchant? TC
  2. I suppose my interpretation of canine intelligence is what the dog does off its own bat, where the owner cannot influence what the dog does. Or the dogs ability to learn for it's self. TC
  3. Tomo, That is the only clip I have seen of Captain and you can tell just by watching how the dog works the hare that he is something special. If I am honest most of the coursing clips leave me cold, I find no pleasure in watching dogs follow a hare around a field. But the first time I seen that clip I could not help myself I had to watch it again. To watch that dog working the hare and trying to get the hare into the position he wanted really had my pulse racing. Then when the hare does what he wanted it was jink left, jink right and game over. TC
  4. I think we can all agree that a lurcher needs a balance of brain and physical attributes? Does the same apply to an out and out coursing dog? Does the coursing dog just need physical attributes, pace, stamina etc: A lot was said many years ago about coursing greys "running cunning" where one dog would let the other make a turn then sweep in to make the kill. A dog that would do that would lose the course. Opinions please. TC
  5. I think you should go and buy your self an anorak and note pad, then take up train spotting.both dogs done a job on there hares, if you could not see that your in the wrong game. I think you should go and buy your self an anorak and note pad, then take up train spotting.both dogs done a job on there hares, if you could not see that your in the wrong game. Well, it seems yet another person cannot see what I can. Watch the Captain clip, now that dog is working the hare. Watch how the dog uses the dyke to keep the hare where he wants it, perhaps you have watched it but do not understand
  6. I am learning here. Regarding the way the muscles develop I can see the logic behind the different type of muscle, but what happens to the elongated muscles when they are crossed with a ball type muscle? It's a genuine question I am not taking the P TC
  7. I have spent an hour (and enjoyed it) looking for any reference to Anne Cooke, and the only thing I could find is that she was the first woman to open a photographic portrait studio in 1843 while this is in the very early victorian era. Most refrences to victorian photography seem to start from 1870 onwards. I did come across one blog that listed Victorian photographers but most from the later part of Victorias reign. Just found this site names a Mary Ann Cook. http://www.victorianphotographers.co.uk/ TC Edited to add: If you are willing to pay they have more info on an Ann Cooke.

  10. Not a bad dog this one. Watch the last three strides before he picks up the hare. He faints left, then right, then catches the hare. I don't know if it is my computer but watch it on youtube and it is a lot quicker. TC
  11. are you for real pal both dogs were in total control brilliant clips!!!! Do you really think so? Ah well thats me told TC
  12. Blaqckgreyhound yopu have a pm. You even, TC
  13. Blackgreyhound, I can see what you are saying, but, to my eyes those dogs were not "working" the hare, neither dog was fainting or using their gears, just following at the same pace as the hare. It is effective though as both hares were caught. There was a clip on here a few months back where a white rough coated dog was coursing a hare to see that dog work the hare was a pleasure to watch. I will try and see if I can find it. TC
  14. Kay, did you know that the first full moon after the sping equinox decides the date of Easter. Easter Sunday is the Sunday following the first full moon. Another useless bit of info for you. TC
  15. try explaining that to the dog I know what you are saying and accidents do happen, but, it looks as if the owner has gone out of his way to catch them. His choice I suppose, but if I were doing anything illegal it would not be posted on an internet site, thats for sure. TC
  16. I have to ask, do all Saluki's just follow the hare like that? Niether dog in each clip ( dont know if it was the same dog) tried to work the hare just follow it. I am asking as I have never owned a dog with any saluki blood, You have to admire their stamina but as for the dog working the hare????? TC

  18. You either need your heads examining or a medal, not quite sure which, Brave brave men. TC
