  1. On the gardening front, runner beans are the most prolific earner per area of land they occupy, Given good conditions you could expect 3 to 4lb of beans per plant over a season at £1.50 a lb not to be sneezed at. TC

  9. Round-up is systemic and non residual,it is neutralised as soon as it touches the soil. You could plant the same day as spraying if you wished. TC
  10. I remember many years ago, a rabbit knocking a mate of mine spark out. A rabbit bolted into the purse net and he dived to catch it, (Why I will never know it was not going anywhere) and as he dived and came level with the hole, another bolted and whacked him in the temple. He was totally out of it did not know if he was coming or going, legs like jelly and a monster head for the rest of the day. That said, the dive was 4.5 out of 5. TC

  13. If you have the choice of a coppiced woodland, be very choosy what you cut, look for a very slow taper with about 25mm/inch to 30mm base to the stick, it will shrink as it dries. Cut a variety of bark colours, Chestnut takes well to having the bark stripped, it dries a light brown colour. TC

Chestnut is every piece as good as hazel. the old adage is an inch per year for winter cut wood, (before the sap rises, or drops) for sticks cut any other time of year add 6 months on to that.There is an old adage if you see a stick you like, cut it, no matter the time of year, as if you wait some one will beat you to it.
