  1. There all on my website, under recent events
  2. I have a little more respect for my dogs and run them on ground i see fit to run them on. Whats the point in getting them out and running them on ground like concrete and them have them laid up for months??. A dog may not pick up an injury straight away on hard ground but it will have an effect on it long term that is for sure. I saw two dogs last week that had injuries from running on hard ground, one had a broken toe and the other had broke a bone in it's foot (this was a 1st X bull greyhound). It's going to be at least 5 weeks before these dogs see anything again is it really worth putt

  5. Stay clear of them mate there shite, there's one here if you want one for £100 can't give them away second hand!!. Mines been back to edgar brothers 5 times with faults a total of 5 months in total in just 3 years...
  6. I visited the pride of the peaks show on sunday. When i arrived i was asked if i had my camera with me as the photographer who had been booked had broke down on the way to the show and was unable to attend. I agreed to take a few photo's so they could submit them with there show report for the countrymans weekly. There arn't many photo's as i wanted to enjoy the show too and show my whippet. Photo's can be viewed by CLICK HERE then click on the recent events page
  7. I wouldn't have expected anything less from a spineless weasel like yourself Ian, Afterall when things get a little difficult and folk email you for answers for there concerns you just put your head in the sand and hope they go away. I certainly won't be renewing my membership whilst ever your in charge as IMO you havn't got a clue about customer relationship or the working dog enthusiat and it's about time the SACS committee members got there heads from up there own arses and realised they could do alot better and increase there membership tenfold if they parted with your company. Whatever ha
  8. It's also a condition of some stud dog owners that the bitch has a course of antibiotics before mating takes place in case the bitch passes on any infection to the stud dog.. I don't like using antibiotics and only use them as the last resort, as already mentioned if you wash out wound on a regular basis using a teaspoon of salt to a pint of water it generally does the trick.
  9. Well it has to be done, Fortunately mine are insured but i'd give my last penny and sell all my belongings to pay for vet treatment for my dogs if they needed it. I spoke to Strongstuff a couple of days after the dog had the operation and he said the dog was in a really bad way it looked like they were going to lose him. Any true dog man who cares about his dog would get them the treatment they need, especally when it's life saving surgery. I suppose i'll have to wait a while stronstuff before i ask for that loan
  10. I've known Tom for a number of years now and he's a real genuine guy. He should be knighted for all the money he's raised for charity :notworthy: He's also passionate about all countrysports and the working dog scene, he'd do anything to help anyone out. I feel privileged to know him and i consider Tom as a true friend. I wasn't well in January and Tom made a 500 mile round trip to visit me for a couple of days, there was just one draw back with this, He drank all my beer lol
  11. It's the first time in 10 years i've not been to the midland and to be honest the entrance fee put me off, put that on the price of diesel etc and it costs a fair bit for the day. had a great weekend though as i went to the pride of the peaks on sunday, now this is a proper show. Really good atmosphere around the show and it was really well run
  12. I'm hopefully going to be bringing on two whippet pups next year when i breed from my bitch. I'd never try traing them together though all dogs need to be trained on a one to one basis and may need different training methods, Looking forward to it..
  13. these are taken with a canon power shot A470 Kay with the camera your using your getting some really stunning shots. I wonder what the shots would be like if you had digital slr with a quality lense?? You have a good eye for a photo and that IMO is the most important part in Photography and it's something that comes naturally as it's very hard to teach. You have a gift, if ever your up my way give me a shout and i'll let you use one of my cameras for a couple of hours.
  14. Totally agree and i never thought i'd say that about one of WILF'S posts lol
  15. Congratulations to Paid for winning the heat. Hardluck Farmer1, i take my hat off to you though mate for making the 360 mile round trip to take part in your heat. I first met Farmer1 and Bolt when i judged farmer1's first heat and they are top lads, I've invited them both out for a nights lamping on my permission once my bitch is out of season and thats what this comp is all about, meeting up with likeminded folk. It's good of LDR to have stuck with the comp especally with all the shit that was said about the last one. I'm looking forward to my first heat next month
  16. Pictured, English slip leads. a pair like these without history sold for 360 quid on ebay last year.. We'll have to give those a try this season mate when you come down here for a run or two
  17. But your opinion was that yappers are not born their made.IMHO it is through breeding and entering on some times the wrong quarry for a certain type of dog.atb dell Yes your right mate it is my opinion that yappers are made into yappers. Got to be honest i havn't had hundreds of dogs though as those i've had from a pup have died here. I believe you only get out of a dog what you put into it.
  18. Everyones entitled to there opinion and i gave mine, i respect other peoples opinions on here. I'm not one to call anyone else's methods if it works for them then thats fine . I never take a dog out before it's mature i certainly don't take them out to see another dog catch a couple as in my experience it just gets them wound up. You'll never ruin a dog thats started later, hundreds are ruined when there started far too early IMO Everyone to there own. I've always took my time with pups and young dogs since and this approach has not failed me.
  19. Hi Daz, i wouldn't worry i know Neil personally and he certainly wouldn't rip you off. He'll be busy getting ready for the Midland gamefair this weekend as i know he has a stall booked there. He's probably sent the lamp hopefully you'll get it tomorrow
  20. your terms are not satisfactory. They allow you to sell the image, and that is not acceptable to any photographer, whether professional or amateur. i will be sending details to the EPUK" unfair competition grab" website for adding to their database. nobody is forcing you to enter Better to point out these things than people be taken in and misled. Imagine you take the winning photo, and you find it plastered all over advertising their products/services whatever, but you cannot claim anything from it all, ever! yes, but i think reporting it to some website or other is
  21. IMO yappers arn't born there created by taking imature dogs our and working them far too early. I once had a bitch that i first took out on the lamp at 9 months old the first rabbit she ran she sang like the grove and feckin rufford. I went home and gave her a couple of months road work and tried her again at 11 months. She never once yapped again all through her working career. I wouldn't mind if a dog gave the odd yip but a constant yapper i wouldn't want in my kennel at all.
  22. The pic below may help, it shows the slips just being released..
  23. Goodluck to everyone who have heats coming up. My bitch has just finished her season, so it's all hands on deck to get her fit for next months heat...
