  4. Having been pretty low in mood for the last week or so, a friend of mine decided he wanted to get me away from this place and take me to the Cemetery to do something to cheer me up. He’s yet to shoot any quarry because although he’s now pretty good at paper at 30 yards, he doesn’t quite get the idea of hold over or under. We arrived about 22:00 and as we pulled up a half dozen or so little furry thumpers could be seen, four of the furry little feckers in the walkway itself! Chewing on or scratching up the shoots under the grass. Of course as soon as we opened the door of the car, they all le
  5. Putting mods/silencers will almost always change the POI Are the shots grouping? if so it's a case of rezero the scope/gun, that will sort it Tony
  6. That scope is great, I have one Tony
  7. I'd like to try them myself one day in my gun's but the cost of them is prohibitive to me. Tony
  8. Mike any chance you could send me some to try out in my baby? I still have three tins of .22's that I'm unlikely to use (Milbro Cal's) that I got years ago (didn'tlike em in the 's and not seen any improvement in 2009) so a trade of a tin of unused Pellets for you to melt down and produce some? PM me if you fancy the idea Tony
  9. Skott, I'll be heading down by train, we could meet up at either Sheffield or Donny Station? Tony
  10. I was almost tempted to try them! However at sub 12 they produce much the same results in 'stopping power' as a much cheaper all rounder and thats assuming they are not deformed in anyway. Recover the pellets from the kills and examine the damage to the pellets and the damage to the bone and tissue. A hole is a hole, in killing a living thing, the bigger the hole the better, however the best thing for a switch off is the amount of kinetic energy thats transfered to the Central Nervous System at a given point. Shot placement is far more important than the shape of the pellet. Tony
  11. Morning Ron, Morning Mike It's just Marketing Like most things things these days. Unless they were thinking Ultra (-Light and Compact-) Magnums  Tony
  12. Also Barry just a quick note, you say that the Crosmans don't seem to have any weight to them, the RWS Hobby's are 2.4 grains lighter than the Crosmans comming in at only 11.9grains Tony
  13. Hiys Barry, Both Chris and I have been using Crosman Premier Ultra Magnums in our guns. I've found them to be very accurate my last shot with them was on Friday the 13th of this month (been using em the ratty though in the Appartment and they are fine) The last session out in the field was a perfectly placed 44 yard standing shot and the closest shot I took that day was also a standing 36 yard lights out. I find that considdering the weight they are an exceptionally good pellet. Were you and your lad using the same gun? The reason I ask it that springers do prefer a lighter pellet (and
  14. Nicely written Craig And at that range, with a breeze very well done Sir You deffinately crowned her good and propper. Tony
  15. Are you a German snob an English snob?
  16. Well that depends on your very own personal preferance My notification says that "your not a bad shot" so either would do Best bet is to go to an RFD and shoulder both rifles and see which you feel suits you best, you may prefer one over the other due to weight distribution, length of pull (ease of shouldering) etc. Just don't get hung up on the Calibre I find myself that a heavier rifle in .22 is best for myself, with some brands. How ever I have also shot certain rifles in .177 and they have 'fitted' me better than the same gun in .22 So ultimately it depends on the individual.
  17. You need to become a Registered Firearms Dealer. Much more to it than applying for the status! You need suitably secure premisis, safes, and a clean bill of healt (Mental Health) from your doctor, no cautions or convictions etc.... Tony
  18. .22! Assuming you can put the pellet where you want to that is .22 equals BIGGER HOLE, slower speed, more kinetic energy transfere equalls fastter shutdown of the targets Central Nervous System. .177 equals flatter trajectory (for those who can't be so precise or bothered on rangefinding etc). At normal ranges, the pellet is traveling faster, so if you miss a vital organ the pellet will go through with a smaller wound size (hole) the pellet will not impart so much kinetic energy into the CNS. Thus the animal may run off and indeed may suffer a long, painful, inhumane death. Having sa
  19. Craig is one of my friends that 'I have yet to meet' but I'm sure we will get along great when we do He is afterall a good laugh and a top bloke on here

I owe Si and Davy a lot, for what they have shared and taught me; especially Si (along with Laura) if it hadn't have been for their friendship when I went back to "Losing the plot" (Come to think of it I never actually had it to start with) I wouldn'tbe around today. It's amazing the friendships that can be forged through a forum such as this Actually meeting th
