Noticed how they've changed the name of the Predator's to "Red Flame and Blue Flame" I like the way they've compared the PBA to a standard flathead to claim the 30% increase in Velocity Oh the Marketing.... While the PBA's will be effective on larger quarry such as Boar etc with the us Airguns (FAC over here), they would be overkill on the Bunnies etc and not really worth the extra expense. Tony

Beeman2004e pneumatic air pistol
Phantom replied to Goodlittlebitch's topic in General Airgun Discussion
In all honesty, I would prefer you go down the rifle route for hunting Reason being is they are much more stable in the hand and easier to learn to shoot and be accurate with As well as having the extra kinetic energy to transfer into the quarry. For 200 you will get a decent second hand rifle. Or even a new Edgar Brothers Model 55 or 60 with scope. What Mike says about the conversion from Co2 to PCP with the bottle is a good idea as well, one I shall be looking into know I know about it. Cheers Mike You got a link? Tony -

No, not for the Squirrels The rats are fairly 'soft quarry' and I'd say 10 to 15 yards max A shot in the front third of a rat and it's dead withing seconds For the Squirrels If I were to use a pistol (at 20 yards max) it would either be an Sherridan or Benjamin Co2 in .22 or better still if you put in the practise and learn to shoot it, a HW45 (Springer at 5.5+ ft/lbs) but you really need to learn to shoot these and put in thousands of rounds of pellets to be able to use them efficiantly on a relatively "hard quarry". Squirrels are hard little feckers and you need to either pop its hea -

As for accuracy....... I have the HW40-PCA and it's superb, the members of the UBC who own the Beeman Version also concure What do you have in mind for such a fine pistol? Bearing in mind it puts out less than 3ft/lbs at the muzzle? I have used it to good effect for putting down Rats at close range in confind spaces as well as the very occasional fluff shot on quarry such as rabbit and Woody. I have also used it to take down woodies and collard doves with head shots out to 15 yards and knockingover 40mm killzone metal targets at 20 yards. Tony -

The Beeman 2004E is an Identical Copy of the Weirarch HW40 PCA The difference is the 2004E is made in China, under License from Beeman (USA) AND HW (Germany) As far as construction goes, the trigger on the 2004E is Chrome plated (Or similar). The ONLY problem that I know of; is that the air intake hole seems to be drilled and not (de-burred) cleaned up afterwards, meaning that there may be a Burr left on the inside. This Burr is claimed to be responsible for the failure of an o-ring seal. It is however easy to put a touch of emery cloth and make the burr vanish! Bit like a polish -
If I were religious I's say "AMEN TO THAT!" Indeed that would be the very best and easiest method to implement Unfortunately, it's way too much like "Common Sense" for our legislation writiers toget their heads around For PCP's a 22 Grain Pellet (in .22) For a Springer, a lighter pellet gives the higher output (Physics is soooo complicated) say 11 grain. A Co2 tends to like light pellets for accuracy, not sure about power at the muzzle though (in .177 pistols). I totally agree, standardise the weight of a pellet is the single very best way to determing a legal output

I never recieved a copy of the "Codes of Practise" as I was never "In Custody" (for that to be the case surely I should have been arrested, ie: taken into custody? I did speak to the head of the FireArms Unit, she declared that it was 'Against the Law' to turn the gun down and remove the "Section One" status of the gun after they had chronoed it. she also declared that "No other Force would allow it either", I know now, that her statement is untrue. What really grates me is the fact that a "Caution" for "Possession" as in both Darryl's case and my own (after all we had both taken possession o

My "Bollox" was in dispute of your claim that "Your brief knows more about the subject than you do" sort of thing It is certainly not a personal insult to you Sir My appologies if thats how it came across If 'all' cautions expire, why did both the SGT who gave me the Caution and my brief say that a caution for a "Section One FireArms Offence" does not expire and I have to declare it if asked for the rest of my life? I'd love it if it does expire, maybe then they cant hold it against me when I actually apply for my FAC and maybe I can go back into the Close Protection/Security industr

Caution for a section one FIRE ARMS offence stay with you for life, at 15 your clean to start again at 18?
-
There does seem to be a large "Force to Force" 'leeway' in the interpratation of the law. I have been told by a couple of people (who wear the uniform) that if I were in either Bristol and Avon area or Cambridge area, the gun would have been allowed to be turned down, Humberside however say 'Not a chance' Tony

Nope a Section One Caution stays for life!

Sorry Mawders, But I would have to say BOLLOX!!! When I was 'DONE' for POSSESSION of an illegal xmas gift, sorry Section one Fire arm (running at 13.04 ft/lbs) my FREE Solicitor advised that I should take a Caution I duely followed his instruction and admitted Possession (even though I was over 9 miles away from the item in question and I was neither Arrested or formally charged with the offence). If I had at the time been "of Sound Mind" (I had suffered a 'Crash/Secondary breakdown' due to being made homeless/lost job/divorced, sister dying etc  ....) I would have spoken

Heres a link (although it has Orion printed on it instead of Seben) http://www.amazon.com/Orion-SteadyPix-Deluxe-Camera-Mount/dp/B0069VXY7K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344340447&sr=8-1&keywords=seben+camera+mount Tony

Try getting hold of the Seben camera mount Roger, it's adjustable in almost every position, clamps onto the scope body and can be folded back when your not using it It's also a lot harder to shoot using a view finder, so it's back to the paper for a lot of practise Tony

First one of your vids I've been able to view for a while. Excellent work The slow motion really shows up the wave of kinetic energy transfer as it goes from head to tail Keep em up I'll watch as many as I can Tony

Mods can make a drastic difference to POI versus POA. As long as the grouping is okay, then as you have already done so a rezero is all that it takes. Tony

Been there Darryl, done that and came away with the same result Although the Police have told me they will not destroy the Ultra and will give me the chance to apply for an FAC so I can have it back It wasn't so traumatic for my wife and kids though. And a Section One caution means you will never be able to get a job that put's you in a "Position of Trust" At least it's all over for you now, I've still got to go through all the checks etc.... I don't see why anyone would think any less of you though Darryl, we all know that you are indeed more than a responsible person when it

Nowt wrong with Serpants Each and every creature has it's place on the planet Snakes; they belong around the neck of my mother. Although I wouldn't wish for one to bite her and suffer a slow and agonising death. It would be so unfair on the snake! -
Which gun should i get?
Phantom replied to Jordb543's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If the lead stays in the quarry then the more kinetic energy is transfered This is a good thing It only takes a second or two to remove the lead from the brain matter; Or you could just as easily chop the head off the quarry, your snake wont really give a darn if it's meal has a noggin or not! Nice one Stu, Most of the Woodies on my perms tend to keep their distance and watch for human eye movement; as soon as they see you look they bugger off. It's a fine day indeed when I manage to drop a woody. Maggies are even worse! Well done Tony
