  1. And yet another dog joins the merry-go-round......
  2. Theres two i wouldn't go without, black and peacock spider and a greenwell's glory. Greenwell's, to me, is the finest wet fly ever devised....
  3. Thanks for that I may try and steer him down the trail cam route but it doesnt seem like photos of any particular quality are likely to be possible I've got quite a few decent shots of wallabys..........they are possible,...but you can't put a time limit on it.......thats all I'm getting at!
  4. its because they are so elusive...they make an otter look positively extrovert!! Photographing them at night isn't easy either...but i have done so on a number of occasions...... The time he will have to invest might not be worth while for just getting a photo. IMO to get a good snap you've got to do alot of travelling and become a bit obsessed with getting 'that' photo...... First he's got to find them......which ain't too easy let me tell you... then..... he's got to try and get near enough to take a snap.....and bare in mind these little hoppers sit in the tightest, thic
  5. Tell him not to waste his time....they are very, very hard to photograph ......he will be at it years to get even a half-decent pic...... Even after spending days in places with the highest density of wallabys in the uk i have rarely seen them in the daytime...
  6. Am i right in thinking that the " common redpoll " , can also be called " mealy " ? No mate they are a different bird, subpecies, mealys are slightly bigger and inhabit further northern countries and, i believe, only come here for the winter
  7. yes....its the best way to spot dog peddlers..... When someone sells more than a couple of dogs a year you got to ask yourself why.....
  8. What is it that they say.......a satisfied customer tells one other person about their good experience......but.... a dis-satisfied customer tells ten people about their bad experience...
  9. I've bolted plenty from single entranced earths....
  10. Legally a 'hard' terrier is no longer within the law. mrspinguu is correct in saying that. but....................... We all know that the law is an ass........................
  11. If it was me i wouldn't be giving up so easily, I would be putting every ounce of energy in for at least ten days...
  12. Surely she must have....or else how can she be pronounced dead?
  13. Anything above 15 foot becomes a 'semi-rescue' anyway. Shame the bitch never made it through. At least she was wearing the bellman and flint collar and you recovered her.
  14. I would be incredibly surprised if that was a first cross Wheaten/Greyhound....
  15. It's brains, not brawn, that will find the terriers IMO..... Get someone there with experience if possible....... Let's hope theres a positive outcome......JD
  16. I know it's a very daft question, but are you sure that the terriers went in the spot you are digging at? Has there been a definate confirmation of this?.... Yes, of course, there 'could' be a shaft, but it would be very unusual surely to build a railway on top of an open shaft? You need someone there with experience with bankings and/or terrier location......knock a series of bar holes in along the base of the banking as deep as you can, listen with coat over your head, preferably during the night/early morning. That may help to locate something, anything. Whimpering is what you are h
  17. It wont be a shaft......they will have just pushed themselves in, dug in and on....you need someone there who knows what they are doing, you don't want to be dropping holes willy nilly as you can easily loose or cover a tube. And...just one more thing.....don't think that the dogs can only be 'in' the bank....check out on the flat in case the tubes run under and away from the track. I've seen that happen before...
  18. Ahh...ok. Well, often those types have a foundation of bolders, so prepare to hit some hard stuff, maybe get a turfor/breaker on standby. You need someone there with an experience of digging on bankings such as that if you can. And don't forget that often there are entrances on the other side of the railway,
  19. Beagling's one of the grandest of sports.....
  20. ok...what is the bank made of??? is the railway above the bank, like a ^ shape, or below the bank like a v shape?
  21. Take batteries out mate, put it somewhere warm with battery compartment open for a week, then try again.
  22. Any updates? You want someone there who has had experience in digging bankings and finding lost dogs..
  23. Sometimes it's better to put your money into something a bit 'faster', even if it is second hand. theres one reason why those len's with the long zoom range aren't popular and thats that they are generally pap. Unless you live somewhere that the sun shines alot!
  24. 100% it is a juvenile robin moulting out into its first adult plumage.
