  1. Ive got a 1x collie grey [ no hancock] and he is ok, he 24ins 60lb. The prob with colliexs is its what grey and collie you use to start your lurcher x? My dog was bred form 26in grey 60lb 1000yds bitch to a working 22in border collie, that works cattle+sheep on a farm by a mate of mine. With any colliex you can get CRAP Temp, it dont matter Who bred it. The reason i dont like hancock's dogs, i think they come up to BIG, my mate had two a 3/4 grey 1/4 collie=27ins and a 3/8collie 5/8 grey26 1/2 ins both heavy dogs. To me a 24in dog will catch any game in the U.K, lets face it [ ra
  2. well dont see the difference between a track grey and a show grey to be honest...its not like these greys chase live quarry do they? think if our coursing greys were banned then we would be in a bit of trouble as surley these are the types that we should be breeding to our lurchers? as in now even though there are muzzled are chasing live quarry but most important there lines have been bred this way and iv seen plenty of track and coursing greys with the coursing grey being shorter but broader on than back with stronger musclear features especially on the hind legs with also a broader chest.
  3. Colliex grey, they are good at most game, if you can get a good un, they will tackle anything.
  4. SPOT ON, if he say's it again, And your dog is on the LEAD ?, TAPE what he say's on your phone and take it to the police. Then see what they say, then you will know where you really stand. I think with all the probs with guns, the police would not let him DO IT
  5. do you run whippet/ greyhounds too? No got a 1x collie grey, he is 15 months old, 24ins 60lb. He is ok , still a young dog yet. Ive seen a few whippetx greys run, and they make good catch dogs. yea hes a good catch dog when we work the bullxs we run him too he puts the turns in on the bigger stuff, is your dog hancock gear? No , he is bred by a mate, 26 in greyhound 60lb bitch to 22in working collie thats works cattle+sheep. He as fare pace for a 1x, good coat+feet, and stamina should be good as he gets older. Had few rabbits on the lamp, try him on bi
  6. They come from New-Zealand, and they work sheep by barking, and moving the sheep forward. Not a dog for lurcher work, might be prone to give tongue

  9. This is one of the drawback's working terriers+ lurchers together , it can be great fun But it can and does feck your retrieve up with your lurcher. I know some lads will say, there terriers are well trained and dont pinch the catch from the there lurchers, maybe but most Do.
  10. Nice little pup, is she just salukix grey or what.? Should fill the bag with her next season.
  11. Nice bit of sport, does the whippetx grey do alot of fox control.?
  12. The Irish Terrier sounds a good x to a grey, the Irish have a good coat, they are leggy+fast, and hard little feckers. I wonder why they are not used more, for lurcher work.??
  13. Thanks Macker, yes they sound a good x
  14. Just read about the deerhound+ deerhoundxs, just wonder if anybody ever use a wheatenx grey to a deerhoundx grey.? Ive seen colliexgrey xdeerhoundx grey work, and it was a very good dog, but never seen a wheatenxgrey xdeerhoundx grey work. Anybody.??
  15. Theres many a bullx has put collie crosses to shame with puting grub on the table... its not only foxes they can slaughter... Ive had both colliexs and bullxs, and both make good lurchers. Both were good on rabbits+fox, colliexgrey =70lb bullx grey=70lb, but i think the colliex was more agile, and could catch that bit more than the bullx. Bullx is ok as long as you use them for the right job, and not everybody does.??
  16. yes, but not to much.? as been said the down side to them. A colliexgrey x deerhoundx grey make a great lurcher, a 1/4 deerhound is plenty. This x was very popular in the 70s
  17. you know what thet say, you pick your friends, you dont pick your parents poor kid
  18. Brave bloke , i would do same. If i didnt it would never get it out my feckin head Some times dogs can get you down+do your head in but there is nothing better than a good old workingdog, you wont get a more loyal mate.
  19. spot on, very good when starting the season, but towards the end of season alot of rabbits get lamp shy and some times it dont make much differnce.?
  20. A well bred colliex grey, will do all that.
