    guard dogs

spot on, even though a good bull terrier or a bullx are not guard dogs, as there temp is more people friendly. a bite of them would be full on and alot more damage and have more tenacity to boot. (if) they were guard guard dogs they would be the ones
  2. well done mate, nice dogs how much bull in them % .?
  3. anything with greyhound in it, can do alot of damage if they kick off. Greyhounds are powerful dogs, bit of bull, collie, etc just had to it. My 1x colliexgrey Bryn as a soft temp, wont start a fight, but he is strong fecker and like most working lurchers, they can make mess of any dog. Not worth the risk mate (separate them)

    FATHER TED

great sit down with 2-3 cans and have good
  5. one thing for sure, every fox missed in the lamp ( solo or double up) will be a lamp shy, And you try calling that fecker in . Yes it is great having a solo dog, that does a good job. But having 2 dogs will always, have (better) chance of stopping lamp shy foxes in the 1st place.
  6. very good thread mate, i know 2 lads who work (collixgreyx salukixgreys) and both are great dogs. They have great pre-drive and are bidable dogs, not to bad at training. I have a 1x colliexgrey Bryn, who is great rabbit dog day+night. Most of my lurchers over 25 years, have been colliexgreys and bullxs lurchers. And the one thing , you said above is spot on regards training .Nice and steady firm+kind, because if it get's a bit heavy handed any lurcher will feck off (patience) is the key, and we all run out of it sometimes fact.Dont think the salukix is for me, but they are great dogs in the (r
  7. feckin great  , i am taking Bryn out with bike now i will , i hope i dont see any i might fall of me feckin bike.
  8. yep, start it august-sep on a few daft rabbits, and nice+steady just a few runs.
  9. yes had nice mooch with the dogs , your dogs are great, love the greyhound pup jimmy. Love the bullx bitch , she is as great nose+good in cover. Ive always liked bullxs, had 2 and a pure one great dogs Bryn loved it as well, i told you he was fast for a 1x colliexgrey, he is great in cover as well, he thinks he is a terrier a 25in 60lb one .We will have to do it again Ray

    Boxing.

just as i said ,Haye needs to have a better guard, but packs a good punch that would finish most heavy weights

Haye to win, but might not be that easy as people think.????
  12. what cross were they if you dont mind me asking a lot of people seem to believe in saluki collie grey mix what have others had success with as they say the (colliexgrey x salukixgrey)are very good alround lurcher for most quarry. I have seen this x work, and they are very good. Some of this x will take fox, but as been said the lads who run this x didnt really bother with foxes, it was most times for the pot. If foxes were to be taken more regular as well, then maybe had a bit of bull blood, as they have best prey drive for that quarry.
  13. nice pics +nice dogs ,i sent you a pm Ray keep at'um
  14. 15 months old, and with another dog, then after a few nights try it on its own.Prob other lads will say differnt, but thats what i have done, but iam not at them pre ban 4 nights a week??
  15. Well done your lad, its quite hard to get in today, a few young lads havd tried and not much luck. Its a good job and good money.
  16. if you do that you will feck it up, its only a rabbit. 1st it bring back thats good, when it comes in to you leave it ,just pat the dog. stand there (dont pull it from its mouth)when it had enough of the rabbit (then)take it. When it gets older and it gets a few (10-12)runs it will drop or give them back to you no prob. just take your time with it.
  17. Brill mate, nice young dog. And its great that you have give him chance .Whats the other dog like with him, they look ok .how Do you kennel them,?
  18. bring on a pup or young dog would have been my only reason yes i know and i would do this , but the point is, alot run double up !!!!of so call single hand dogs !!!!1sounder i do agree, if foxing was/is your game then surely you would want the best tool for the job,(single handed dog) regardless of breed just another thing .........when is a pup not a pup a lad rang me the other day for chat we were chatting about he dogs he said his pup is coming on well has afew foxes with his old dog the fking PUP is 22 months , sounder for the fox game (15)months old,
  19. yes fair point, you would ask that.
  20. and most know that foxes dont hang about, feck me they can turn like a hare. yes great to use one dog, but you will get alot more with 2 fact. (walking) not in motor.??
  21. As I HAVE SAID in previous posts, I have no problems with PROPPER Lurcher men who ask permission, shut gates behind them, respect the land and quarry but most of the poachers I have seen/come accross cause trouble. And wat happens when they are refused permission time after time due to the selfish nature of shootin syndicates who think no feker else has got the right to a rabbit for the pot only them spot on,if you get (any ground) with a lurcher today you are very lucky person. ive said before 25 years ago, they (didnt) want you (then) and they (dont)(want)you feckin (now
  22. i think most lurchers will bruse+mark rabbits, lets face it when runing at 30mph hand grabing something ,its got to have a few marks on it. My dog will bring back live, most of the time. But even they are alive , when they have been despatched+skined there still is marks on them. I think it comes down to the dog, not the x, what ever the quarry is most dogs will mark it, and more so if they are knacked.!
  23. it could make a good x for rabbits daytime, and easy bit of lamping but for faster stuff you would need a 2nd x. Some labs(working strain)can be quite racey, but still a heavy type dog (50-70lb),
