  1. I've ordered a lot of things from there and they are indeed in Italy. I just totted up what I needed and paid for delivery to the UK. Don't think it was that much. Whether it included import taxes I couldn't tell you but the service was fine.
  2. Indeed. I can't shoot them here, though the occasions where I've seen them and they have been shootable are practically nil.
  3. Glad you cleared that up Ric Aye, let the insurance company deal with the injuries and the police with the driver.
  4. I can't see anything by proof reading over the relevant licenses, i.e. "To protect flora and fauna" Have a look here
  5. Not sure how this one pans out. When they are in season, they can be shot on a Sunday in Certain Counties of England and Wales anyway, but when they are just on the General License as a pest, I can't see a Sunday being out of bounds, just the same as it isn't for other pest species. Don't forget that although they are classed as pests, they are a Wildfowl species and still need to be shot with non-toxic shot regardless of the time of year, which unfortunately means no Lead in your bang stick I'll see what I can dig up.
  6. Mick, It seems that you have more than reasonable grounds for a claim. The driver of the HGV was obviously not paying attention to what was happening, which is worrying considering he drives a vehicle 3 or 4 times heavier than you or I do. There are quite a few that I know of, who just put in a claim regardless of whether they are injured or not, its the claim culture. But on the face of it, you have a good cause to. SS
  7. Interesting thread again. Its amazing just how much time and posts the ".17HMR for Fox" argument takes up My home force, South Wales Police have agreed that a Fox is classed as vermin in their eyes. However, not one for being satisfied with word of mouth, I have "Fox and Small ground game" on my FAC for the HMR. I have the .222 which is what i'd choose any day to shoot Foxes with, but I have taken the HMR for other vermin and come across many Foxes and dropped every one without a problem. Again, it was under sensible circumstances, none over yards and with little or no wind to spe
  8. I have versions of both. I have the Meindl Dovre Extreme's and cannot fault them for hunting, just superb. I also have Lowa Mountain GTX's which are also brilliant boots. There is a slight difference between them, that I find the Lowas a little more padded than the Meindls but its something and nothing. Either of these brands will be more than satisfactory IMO.
  9. Glad he's getting back on his feet ...or bike as the case may be Must have been one hell of a shock

  11. Touting for members, been going on for weeks now. Just banned that one, and if you get anymore, let a Mod know.

  15. There have been a number of cases recently where birds have been ringed and returned very very close to where they had been ringed. There was a bird ringed on the Gower in 2008 which then returned to the Gower yet again, in the same field to be caught again. Another, also on the Gower was ringed here in January 2009 and shot here in Decemeber 2009. Quite an amazing bird and I'm glad that people are ringing them. The B.T.O. had ringed practically no Woodcock prior to 2006/07 when shooters started to become interested in Mid and South Wales and began to ring them while training for thei
  16. Just thinking about that part, not all police forces will, especially to someone who is applying for their first grant. I know of two police forces in just my experiences that won't grant a .243 on first grant just for Fox. No harm in trying as it were.
  17. This is the most important bit for anyone shooting a bird under the general license; As Mal says, you cannot shoot something just because its there, you have to do it for one of the above reasons.
  18. Seems he's been booted again, if you have anymore of this chap, its always a web address with "ferreting" in it. Report the PM please and we'll boot him/it/her/they.
  19. Just checked and you're quite right, was always under the impression it was just .22LR. Learn something new everyday
  20. Couple of things, If you're going to use the .22 Rimmy on Fox just make sure you have the condition on your FAC so that you can shoot Fox with that gun. Also, try and make that first shot count with the .22 as its likely to be your most accurate with a semi auto and getting less and less as you keep firing with the target moving. You can't get semi-auto .22WMRs or .17HMRs in the UK, just .22LR unfortunately. The .17 and .22WMR are likely to be near as accurate as each other for the type of shooting you and I do with the .22WMR carrying that bit more stopping power. As for ammunition
  21. One of my favourite comedians Tam, laugh all day
