  1. I agree 100 %. In fact my standard response to the criticism I receive is......... "which are you...............vegetarian or hypocrite ???" To which I never had a sensible retort. In fact the funniest response was........"why do you need to hunt, I get my rabbits from the butcher...............they are imported from china you know" At that point I booked in for my first hernia operation at the local hospital..
  2. More so now, than I can ever remember.......... Dog on a run.......... Ferret down a hole and a thumping rabbit pulling a trigger....... casting a line........ A huge buzz
  3. As permitted under selling rules, I would to bring to your attention a very nice .243 Sauer 202 classic synthetic in the for sale section. Now open for sensible offers. Thanks Matty
  4. I am considering interest in Selling My Sauer 202 Classic Synthetic........I have been offered a rifle that I just cant turn down. This rifle is in good condition, it has fired about 5-600 rounds, mainly 87 + 100 gr so no ultra fast stuff. It has years of life left in it. These rifles retail at over £1400.....This one comes with Leupold QD bases and if the asking price is fetched, 1 set of 25 or 30mm rings. The asking price is £800. Pictures will be made available to genuine enquiries. The bolts on these things are smooth as silk.........You just don't get this quality on som
  5. Looks a nice gun. Are you sure a gun of that age is 3" proofed.... I'm sure you've checked its ok....But if you haven't, just have a wee check. Matty
  6. 'll take a guess mate..............and I'm only buying 50 to try'
  7. Apparently CCI make fragmenting rounds for the .22lr to combat this, I have been trying to source these for land that I have this problem on. Until I get them, its no shooting on that land for me..
  8. I have to admit, I have heard first hand from an ex Hereford Guy that he was not badged, and in those circles he is considered a joke. Someone I know was rung by his production crew to act as an adviser on a project he was leading. He refused, as he didn't want to be connected with him. You will also note he reports in his shows that he was ex 'special forces'..........not SAS, it s a play on words, and a whole different thing. As a TV presenter is ok, maybe he should stick to that
  9. I have a load of galv mesh if you want to build one? You can pick up as much as you like for a fiver a sheet.
  10. At your budget you could try Leupold Mk4 or an IOR from Border Barrels. Both would be more than up to the task
  11. Plenty of 17hmr's available second-hand on ukgunroom and guntrader.. Take your pick! Matty
  12. All still in velvet in Angus........shaping up to be some very nice heads though!!
  13. If you can reload, try and do so. The accuracy is just so much better. Cost can not be compared either. Hornady 35gr vmax factory are ok'ish! but £21 for 25 rounds??? I'd rather chew tinfoil!!
  14. Trust me, you will not regret it!!
  15. The 204 is a better cartridge, for sure. But its also more expensive too shoot. I can have whatever I need on my ticket, but I chose Hornet because of its simplicity and cheapness to shoot. I went through the same decision making process, but it kept coming back to being able to afford to shoot it. I must of popped off 20-30 rounds yesterday, between bunnines and a zero check.... I am not feeling in the slightest bit guilty about the cost 25p a bang is hard to beat. If I need ought bigger I use my .243.. Its just so much fun to shoot!
  16. Its on the list to try, but still using the first big batch of 13 gr Lil' gun Mr L. I have got a mate that's saved me some H110 to try... Just never had to make new rounds since my first big batch...........
  17. I was out for a bit of long range sniping with ma Hornet today.. All head shot at ranges up to 180 yards of the bonnet of the landy. (visible in some pics) # 35gr vmax, cci small rifle primer, 13gr lil' gun powder. CZ 527 Prestige Hornet.
  18. Good Positive attitude, no harm done, learn from it. Good luck for the future!!
  19. Yep, had a hornet 3 months now. Like above 35gr vmax handloads. Very impressed so far.
  20. Baked Rice for me...or rice pudding, semolina etc etc. I like the creaminess....especially with a little jam (and extra cream!!)
  21. classic pic ( I have one very knackered whippet cross, kipping at this minute after yesterdays exertion)
  22. I would say there's a good few questions and answers that this brings to the forum.Semi auto what? 22lr or shotgun? If it was semi auto 22lr, then I would say you are not experienced enough to take that shot.If it was a shot gun, What ammo are you using? You need BBs if you are specifically targeting fox. What range did you get the fox in to? I would 30 yards is your optimum for fox.No, if you hit it is not going to come back to the same call, it will be slowly bleeding to death of suffering massive infection. If neither of you have shot foxes, the first question to ask your self is why? Is it f
