  2. we checked out some permision thats been left alone for a good couple of years today and the rabbit numbers have definitely started to recover locally here's hoping for a good season
  3. Siblings to the other i posted.. just a dash of whippet time will tell how useful they are but do have high hopes for ferreting and mouching about around 18tts

  5. Haha yea its nearly deep enough ? a good quarter of one field i go was covered in them keeping the dogs from running about for now
  6. Sounds like you have some great little dogs there mate Some of my permission is on large feilds and i do miss my big dog that i lost to cancer my current crew though are 22tts and under prob about right for todays current climate ?
  7. a good read that mate, Having hard times can make us appreciate the dogs more for what they do for us.. Think the future so say green agenda is to lessen our meat consumption and get us all eating bugs? we could end up relying on our dogs again some day soon do you remember the breeding of your little dog, is it any different to what you keep today..

  10. nice one, yea we did wonder if they would be ontop still in the cover with it being so warm but dogs marked quite a lot of warrens That sure was a productive outing for you well done ?

Yea i know what you mean with this heat and is always bit of a gamble with young still about.. we passed over a lot with cover and were quite lucky to find few places that were not to bad Was really just to get the young ferret started and get some rabbits for him and the dogs had my fix now and quite happy to wait till this heat subsides a bit?

A bit early but have made a start, Had a nice morning out with a mate and our dogs and one of my new ferrets this years young.. he worked well alongside the older ferrets and is showing great promise, well happy with him! also some good signs of the rabbit population picking up so all is good atm we ended the morning with 6 good rabbits ?
  13. Found this to be a good preventive.. a couple of squirts on the dogs under carriage before going out
  14. Nice cross that, i have some a little similar and the size.. not a straight cross but from mongrel parents made up of various terriers collie and whippet and dash of lab and spaniel proper melting pot.. This one came out quite racy

  17. will hopefully be fast enough for catching bolting rabbits? they have beddy and collie also in the breeding so have a bit of a head start?
  18. This is the route im staying down These two mongrel pups will be used for ferreting and mouching about They only carry bit less than a quarter sighthound, but will be fine for what i do daytime ? have half cross collie as well for a bit of lamping

  20. Not had pures before mate but the cross I have now does a good enough job bushing and ferreting for me, just got another x bred pup hope he follows suit
  21. Sounds good mate? Was lucky there were just 2 dog pups in the litter and being a cross I've always fancied trying struck while the iron hot! He's fitting in well with the rest of the team now When hes not hanging off there ears? Can't wait to get him out
