  6. Thank you all for the interesting input.. Neal there's no putting you off kelpies ?hope you enjoy your new pup when the the time comes.. Phil and Ray when you kept kelpie lurchers do you remember what height the dogs and bitches made? was there much difference in the height than collie xs
  7. interesting black dog..would seem that going by your quarter bred that the kelpie gene can be carried and quite dominant in crosses, would you agree with those that say the kelpie can be more free thinking and will challenge commands if it thinks it knows best..
  8. I do now what you mean about some of these Americans and agendas lol but it seems there's a good few others making the same claim.. Alot of these chews and dog toys do come from China and don't think they have the same regard for companion animals as we do so I wouldn't be surprised if some of it is accurate buy British I say
  9. found these comparison training blogs quite interesting, anyone else here worked these different breeds to cattle or sheep, would be interesting to hear your experience of them. https://www.workingsheepdog.co.uk/working-kelpie-vs-border-collie-sheepdog-training/
  10. think I've heard of them but didn't know that's what they were?
  11. Yeah I did mate and could buy a big pack cheap at Wilkinsons, now giving raw chicken wings
  12. Found them good for keeping their teeth clean, I would give them one small stick a day.. Shocking what goes in them
  13. was guilty of feeding these at one time but will never again.. http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/rawhide-dangerous-for-dogs/
  14. nice dogs and it's good to see they all get plenty of work mate.. How is your fawn lurcher bred.. atb
  15. Good offer that mate, they should make someone happy, how much bull in the sire
  16. nice dogs.. did conditioning them them ready for their working season (field not track) differ at all from what you now do with your lurchers.
  17. nice little bitch how tall is she
  18. I think for me with a half cross collie grey genetics can only go a certain or limited way, the offspring will generally be quite typey and you can almost rely on hybrid vigor.. with multiple crosses they can go anyway good or bad.. this is my take on it lol.. they also suit the ground I run them on, also lucky to have not picked up many injuries so better the devil you know lol
  19. I got my old 1st x dog off the classifieds on here a good few years ago.. has been a good dog and it paid off..the odd surplus pups bred from good stock do show up from time to time.. My Current pup was bred from a 22" working farm collie bitch put to a 28"greyhound..so am quite optimistic for the future.. was also from classifieds but not on here... Just have to keep your eyes peeled and maybe be prepared to travel a bit..
  20. .. I had my heart set on another 1st x collie grey and have recently got another one, home bred litters are about and find they usually appear when your not quite ready for one but if you can adapt circumstances a bit you will eventually get what you want even if maybe having to rely on classifieds, I think you still take a chance with a 1st cross home bred litter but would sooner that than go to a puppy farmer atb..
