Done that over 25 years ago on a canal between Daventry and Northamton, it worked better than you would think it would and didn't capsize even though a bunch of drunk hippy's built it..Mind you it was really hard to control and did go round in circles a lot so we tied a scaff plank between to old canoes and ratchet strapped the outboard onto that and that was loads better.. ..

The ponds you see in big farm house gardens and larger houses are called stew ponds and they were living larders from a time when we were god fearing christians that ate fish on a friday, carp and perch were favorites on old english tables and the larger house and farms had them as the owners were rich enough to have them dug in the first place. Just a bit of factual history for some of you that might not have known,,,

Those yellows are nice pretty birds but i just can't help but think nothing is as nice as natural in the colouring of all the finches bar redpolls..You must be pleased with what you've produced B&G as there cracking birds mate and well done..

Trees can do that when it's been really dry and they go into a early autumn sort of look,we had it in Norfolk a couple of three years ago or so..

It's not the rarest of things to find a pair of birds will just not feed a chick and even toss it out the nest and i think they know something is wrong with it so don't waste there time with trying to rear a non starter..

Couldn't you sort of put a small float/bouy on it so you could collect it when taking out the next bait and just redrop it ?, might save having to make new ones up every time you go out..

I use one myself it's a medium spinning rod that i used to troll rapala type lures( crank baits ) for sea bass.and i love it,good flex but plenty strong enough for double figure fish. ..
