  1. Yep all pelts sold wet, rolled onto brown paper, wrapped and sent by courrier. Dont know how they graded them but some you thought were ok, got less than a tenner for, only the tip top fetched £25. Before you posted mate i was going to let rip at those who obviously never sold a pelt in their lives .Pelts were/ are graded according to whether or not there is a moult line .The area of blue inside a pelt that indicates the moulting stage the animal was in prior to death .A large area indicated the fox was killed in the autumn when the winter coat is not quite entire .Pelts were frozen by
  2. Personally and others will vouch for this ,i dont use sticks prefering the long bipod .Before anyone says" but what about the shot over long grass sudden appearance of deer ".Well you just have to know how to read deer and get to a position you can shoot from or shoot freehand at close distance .You may have your way of doing things but my numbers speak for themselves .
  3. What every last one of you fails to see is that the people who oppose what we do are purely and simply anti our way of life .Nothing you can do or say will change their veiws and its a weak politician that bends to pressure .A picture neither confirms or changes their beliefs .If they cant find pics they will take their own .You Irish lads need to stand together and fight any changes to your way of life .We over here didnt .We all thought it would blow over .Make it known that you wont stand for a ban of any sort .Write to your MP.I am personally embarassed by my fellow sportsman over here
  4. I take it your uncle isnt a dog man mate as there are plenty of fox killers within all breeds .Forget preban to mate as there isnt one .
  5. You must have organic chicken farmers in your area mate ,its all the rage at the moment .Approach a few of these and offer your services when they move the sheds .Getting in is hard i know but once you get to know the pullers ,they will usually ring you up with offers to work the dogs .All free of course .We had to travel a bit for this one but it was worth it
  6. Not entirely true mate .Mine is 3 bricks high and now empty but the culprit had a shock when the dog got him .
  7. ................we got to the farm about 0800 and met the other lads who were mates of the farmers son .The numbers of rats today were unknown so we came along to provide extra dogs should they be needed .No worries really as there were plenty of dogs to cope .The first shed was pulled and the muck turned over for a tally of 168 .A short break and onto the next shed .One of the dogs had a nasty bite across the eye but it stopped bleeding so panic over .Finished with a respectable 369 including a white striped young one .
  8. Dont forget to put a shot into it just in case it got away . Illegal ,stupid and not at all what this site needs .

  12. Not getting at any one in person mate ,just some encouragement for the lad would of done .Seems to be a wealth of knowledge in this section thats destined to die with the older generation .Simplicity is the way but practical experience teaches you that .He will learn but in the meantime - some encouragement please .
  13. Take no notice of the self acclaimed pro's mate .Theve forgotten what youth was all about -experimenting .They are stuck in their own little world where one man is king and they are the sheep .You do your own thing and you will learn along the way .Just keep at it mate

  20. Having read a recent thread on here from start to finish and having done my fair share of terrier work of various types ,i would like peoples honest views on what is a worker and whats a shirker .For instance ,the terrier that deals with large numbers of rats in a year ,sometimes all in a day but is only dug to a handfull of times ,is that a true worker .Does a dog have to be tested to the full before it gets this title or can we call the part timer ,a worker, on the assumption that it would work flat out given the chance . Remember ,i have seen most things so no bull shit .
  21. Nice pic mate .You on chalk downs there then? .
