  1. I was sat at home yeaterday ,pissed off with the weather .Just get the coat on and down it came again .About 7.30 pm it eased off enough to think about getting in the truck .Once your out it dosnt seem to matter about the rain does it but going out in the rain is soul destroying .Went to a place that i share with another lad and who has all but wiped out the deer ,well according to the farmer anyhow but last night proved different .Straight away saw two does and i think maybe a buck was nearby in a wood but i never saw him despite a good wait of 3/4 of an hour .Moved on around the ground which

  3. Shotguns for deer FFS.This is the 21st century ,not the dark ages .Deer deserve better than that .Seen too much wounding to ever except the shooting of deer with a shotgun .Get someone to do the job propper or leave them in peace . Are they really causing damage or is it just an excuse to shoot them ?.Get some pics up of the damage please !.
  4. From first hand exprience and not hearsay ,there is nothing easier than filling in the forms printed off from their website and submitting them.I received an e-mail next day saying they could see no problem why the shooting at night or out of seasn couldnt go ahead .I recieved confirmation via email, printable ,and thats that .Natural England are not a qualified body on deer management ,do not claim to be such but they are the only means of obtaining LEGAL WRITTEN PERMISSION to cull deer at other times than that stated within the game laws .Who wants to plead a case for shooting at niht with
  5. Good on you mate .Just as satisfying as taking the shot yourself ,if not more .
  6. Caught them in funnel wire traps made for catching up pheasants for laying .Always let them go though as they make up for the odd egg eaten by the early warning system they provide .Baited purely with corn .

  10. Cheers mate. The numbers here have dwindled since we first started, due in no small part to the service we supply.First bag was 620 ,6 years ago .The hedges have been grubbed out ,a source of re-infestation and a cleaner regime in place has kept numbers to a minimum .
  11. Licenses for night shooting are granted easier than shooting out of season for some reason.Available from Natural England, online no less .Dont even come out to look at the problem .
  12. Yesterday saw us at the annual ratting do at a farm i have .Short notice meant we were a man down but we soldiered on .The first shed was disappointing but the next and the third were better with just over 100 in each .Finished with a respectable 221. p.s-Computor crashed hence the hurried post .
  13. Known that more than once .Always take a name and number from anyone who wants to see anything at the house .These things have a way of being 'forgotten' unless recorded by you .

  15. Went down to my good mate Martins yesterday evening for a stalk. We were to try a spot that he hasnt take a beast off yet so hopes were high .The ground is on a valley side and the parking is on the opposite side .As we pulled up ,we could see a deer crossing the top fields and sure enough it was a buck ,a mature buck too by the looks of him with a tall head but he was still a long way away .We walked down to where a stream denotes the starts of the permission and splitting up ,we climbed up the valley side to hopefully intercept the buck .We agreed that a fence between us would be the divide a
  16. Very early season yet mate .The rut is my favourite time to be out .The landowner on one patch has got hold of a device that deters deer .Its a box that runs off the mains in his shed and then feeds a cable right around the perimeter of a market garden .Works for him but not me

We were called to a local estate where the pest control is on going .This is not a council estate but a country estate where things are very much real life ,in your face and sometimes very red in tooth and claw . The keeper had seen a fox 'towing 'yes you read that right ,towing a muntie fawn still alive across a field towards cover and he rushed home for the rifle ,luckily fin
