  1. The drag bit was for the pic mate ,we carried out as the floor is pure dust .
  2. Out with the lamp last night same place as the brace from high seat .Wife was lamping with the red filter this time as id heard someone else had been round lately with no success .Did most of the ground seeing only deer and a badger so decided to stand in the centre of a big field and call .The wife saw a fox a long way away that looked like it was coming in but on the red its a job to say at a distance .Well she kept it just beneath its legs and sure enough he was coming fast from maybe 200 yds over three fields. We lost sight as it neared a hedge and i can only think there must have been n
  3. Speak to one of our USA members about a possible gift ?
  4. Looks like it might make a good hat ,at least that way it would have some use .Get yourself on some pampered pet site messer. No doubt the pups will be on here as working stock from tried and tested.Makes my piss boil ..............................and hoover that carpet .
  5. Years ago before the present deer laws i might add ,the hornet was my all rounder and i can honestly say it let me down only once.
  6. Out at an unearthly hour to try and placate a farmer on whos land i cross to get to a bit of stalking i have .Hes recently bought a few dozen hens and has them free range in the yard but unfortunately ,charlie as usual cant be content with rats and mice around the yard and has snaffled two brace already and he only let them out Wednesday .I wish he had said before as i could of had a few before the big release but thats farmers for you .Arrived at the farm at 3 am with a view to have a lamp round but the weather dictated otherwise ,clear skies at home but 10 miles away a right pea souper.I h
  7. Get yourself a ferret mate as you arent cut out for trapping ,lol.
  8. 'Heras' fencing of the type you write about isnt up to it mate ,tried it for kennels once and the terriers were out in a week .
  9. Not sure of the lagalities but here goes -Before i had a shotgun or a lurcher we used to snare bolting foxes when using terriers and the success rate was very high ,unless charlie walked out and pushed it aside .The terrier knew the drill and waited at the entrance for it to be lifted ,after getting caught a few times i might add .Dont ask what the despatch method was as that may of contravened a law or two even back then .
  10. Get yourself a dog and stop moaning.Just trap the feckers and despatch with the airgun .Used to shoot loads where i worked with a webley hurricane pistol in traps and on the snare line .Airgun in the right hands is as deadly as a .22 live ,fact .
  11. In that case mate ,well done and hope your health is on the mend now .
  12. Local by-laws can prevent you from shooting ANYTHING on a Sunday so check first mate
  13. Dont know whether you are genuinely backward or very cute at taking the piss ,undecided.
  14. You seem very at ease with the stalking situation mate ,you sure its your first
  15. Its the work of the Badger watch alright .Like said ,look out for hidden camera .Not too hard to spot if you look hard enough .
  16. The trees here have been given a right pasting and are stunted up to the plantation nearby which was planted at the same time but fully fenced .When next there i will add to this thread with a pic of the difference in tree size .has to be seen to be believed what deer can do .In case anyone is wondering why i havent taken a surplus off here then think again .In the 3 years ive had the land ,i and others have shot a total of 53 roe and 3 munties off it and still they come .Not that im moaning mind .
  17. I recently put up a high seat overlooking some tree plantings that the deer are hammering .The plantation is fenced on three sides but not on the railway embankment side due to some red tape im told .The deer have found a way around the main fencing and hop over the four foot with ease so its my job to reduce the browsing to a minimum .The landowner saw seven deer in there last week so hopes were high that maybe one was a buck .The seat covers an area where ive seen them in there most but theres still a portion that is unreachable due to a hedge but you cant have it all .I was in the seat well
  18. I could walk all night and only see 3 of the fuckers .I personally i think a .22 is not suitable for fox in the field ,only humane dispatch, but that is a whole new thread .Before i had centre fire i shot many foxes with the rimmy but also saw a few go off scowling which is unacceptable and to say on a shooting forum ,to a novice that they are good out to 100 yds on fox with subsonic is a bit irresponsible Deker .
  19. The miss was forgivable really as charlie was fairly wired when he fired and unfortunately the shot went to the left .Was a very good night which we all thought would continue but the weather thought otherwise.Good to hear about the other land there Martin .We will have to have a recce some time . Nice to see foxes coming in like that but then again they were lured by exceptional calling
  20. Personally ,i do not agree with a novice to centre fires having an open ticket too soon .They are a world apart from a .22 rimfire and totally removed from a shotgun .I had an open ticket from the off with a .222 and was amazed to see what it could do ,all within the realms of safety obviously .I was very hesitant about taking taking it onto land that i didnt know intimately but that was a long time ago .I now have the .243 and go where i need to but in hindsight, i feel the an early restriction would not have been a bad thing in so far as getting to know the rifle on home ground .Just my view
  21. You gone all stateside foxdropper, thought you were from Wiltshire, do you also say sidewalk? Actually mate ,the reference to 'fall 'is English .They nicked it off us like many other things
