Listen ,to all those who are moaning about it stop and think a bit .The lads that are in it for the long haul ,geniune lads i mean ,those that know the game inside out will not have a pup for sale for any price so why does it concern anyone who digs that a terrier is selling for a large sum of money ,that is obviously not bred for the digging game .I dont give two fecks what people are charging for whatever as i wouldnt touch one anyway . If you are at all interested in the digging then stay away from money ,the two dont mix .The only way to start with good stock is to earn it and if this ne

It's lighter, less recoil and you don't have to break the gun to load (much easyer on the foreshore) Another ,doh -

Why use a semi if it only holds two anyway ,doh.Surely the reason is for that extra shot?. -
Best bait for live catch rat trap?
Squirrel_Basher replied to Sam H's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Better off with a size 10 , immigrant dead fall trap mate .Sorts the problem out at the root .Bait it with a fiver and check twice a day ,more if a large population is suspected . -
You will find that once a trap has caught it will catch soon after as the smell of the gland will stay on the trap for quite some time .Been a while now but i always used to squeeze the urine out of a mink onto traps just like with a stoat and this definately helped especially in spring ..The young are dispersing this time of year and a good ploy is to set two traps back to back with a bait in between .Had more than my fair share of double catches using this set up .Another killer set is to either utilize a fallen log across the water or to create your own with a box tunnel setting .Only real

New business in the pipeline........
Squirrel_Basher replied to martin's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Very true mate .I have seen the set up and im impressed with the work thats gone into it .Im down helping with the roof soon with the added bonus of a look out after with the lamp .Martin deserves to make a go of it and i for one will be supporting him with whatever i shoot [at the right price of course ,lol] Another bit of news is that we have both recently done the deer and small game meat hygiene course and passed which gives us both a hunter ID and Martin especially ,the necessary paperwork to handle game of all sorts . Roll on the doe season mate ,i think youll be busy . -
fox control terrier work or shooting
Squirrel_Basher replied to the_stig's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I definately DONT want to turn this into a slanging match but there is no contest between shooting fox and digging as far as control is concerned .Shooting wins hands down .I both shoot and dig but digging has to said ,is a way of getting those foxes to ground after the pheasant season has ended and the weathers cold. How many of you can honestly say you can guarantee a fox on any one days digging whereas i can guarantee shooting a fox on several nights running until ive had enough .Keep it real and only comment on what you know please . -
Hope he stays away as it ruins the whole site when people have f**k all to say but argue

What a f*****g NOB.Until the c**ts gone ,i post no more .

Poaching on a small scale cannot and will not ever be on a par with the deeds you speak of GP .The only distinction between a poacher and the man with permission is what side the fence he shoots from .I would say that each and every one of us has at some time stretched the boundary a bit [not you of course GP but all normal ,morally sound field sport fanatics as frequent this site] .If i didnt have permission i would have no choice but to roam as its in me to hunt ,no getting away from that .You need to stop writing shit and post a thread thats interesting and get away from the keyboard crap a

North of the border its seems to be a way of life whilst we Englishmen live the life of country gents on permission given to us freely .We need to get that wall started really as they will be down here when it all runs out .

South of England Deer tracking group
Squirrel_Basher replied to Greek Phil's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
i heard they all got lost and couldnt find each other . -
So far you have no proof anything sinister is happening .Deer kids do die and get taken by dogs ,foxes .Any keeper worth his salt will know beyond doubt that hes losing stock and a good one will sort it without the need for outside interference .Grow a pair mate and sort it if theres a problem .

Patience is the answer they are all different. These few words say it all .

Nice buck there mate ,very dark too.The rut has fizzled out here as far as calling goes but ill grass a few more before the season ends no doubt .
-
On my own mate i dont get nervous about anything but in company theres always the worry of a messed up shot .
-
Friday evening saw me trying to get to grips with a buck that normally resides over the boundary ,the other side of a small stream on a lush banking of meadow grasses never cut .This place is just outside of town so not far to go and as i was a bit late getting out i made the decision to try for him here.Ive seen him my side on numerous occasions but either unsafe or bumped only to jump the stream and away .I set up on sticks right on the boundary overlooking the neighbours fields and on the side of the stream with barrel pointing back to my permission .I started calling as soon as i was in p

Down at Martins ground Wednesday evening ,on one of his patches that i love to be at .Hilly ground with a dingle below, horse shoed into the valley side.Martin had the cam corder so no rifle for him and he lead the way through this treelined dell .We bumped a doe early on that hung around so i had a peep to see if she had a buck in tow but all i called was a fox that eventually got chsaed away by the doe and that was that .Into the dell and we decided to wait awhile under a hawthorn bush as we could see a pair of does in the distance .Just got settled when Martin accidently sat on his buttalo
