    Lovely pics of the fox mate .Just in myself from a early walkout to watch the heronry nearby .Theres a pair of egrets nesting there too this year as well as a raven on the end .but what a noise .Dont posses a decent camera .

    By early are you talking about Dereks root stock because it certainly wasnt red .Just trying to establish when the reds were brought in .Must be someone on here who has records of past breeding .Genuine question .Chocolates are a black mutation but red is a different type altogether.

    To the OP.If you are the dogman you say you are then why the feck are you asking for a carcass on here ,go get your own ffs .Much much more satisfying and cheaper .In my opinion for what its worth dogs pass 70% of any rich protein source so why waste it .Unless you are mixing it with white meat i see no gain to feeding venison to dogs unless its free eg road kill .So you see why people are a bit confused by your post asking for venison for the dogs ,like feeding cats on caviar .

    My earliest memories of Wheeler bred dogs were of prick eared terriers with the white blaze .Very volotile ,quick to take offence .Very dog aggressive ,easy to start work hard to break off .Used a few over the years ,one called Flint from original kennels .Personally think the type needed watering a bit which is why i used the fire over laid back Nuttal bitches and never looked back .Never saw anything but black back then but thats only my take on it .

    After all the rain of yesterday it finally gave out to give a sunny evening and we took the opportunity to get out with the rifle .Went to a place where id recently seen a young buck whilst out with the dogs .Bit breezy but at least i knew which way to go round .The corn had been recently sprayed i think as we could smell a hint of something as we brushed through it so no deer at this end but an opportunity to check a few earths nearby to see what was using them and sure enough cubs which will have to go .     I would rather dig the worst clay than some of the green sand around here but your right its a pain .Tried all methods but its just a case of getting on with it head down arse up .Worse still when its raining and everything is plastered .This is where a dog with a short coat comes into its own as nothing worse than a balled up ,miserable dog in the rain.Got to clean them there and then or its the clippers at home .At least with clay the quarry aint going too far .

    Rob 284- Listen mate ,the only way to ensure you are on the right track is to cull whatever dosnt suit you.Without this you are pissing in the wind .You are left with dominant genes that have been set by selective breeding .Dont over complicate it as you will get nowhere .Cant stress strongly enough about the culling side as not many have the stomach for it but wonder why they get nowhere .

    If its stoats you are targeting ,as soon as you catch squeeze the urine out onto the trap pan and you will catch again and again same set .Works better using urine from a bitch but works well either way .Dont have to stick to natural sets either ,A bit of creative spade work will get results too.Dig a trench in likely spots and cover with slate ,turf back on and trap in .Vermin survives by being inquisitive which is what the trapper uses to his advantage .Surprising where you will catch rats too,miles away from any habitation which is the usual draw .Squirrels are very easy to trap IMO,base of
