It Only Counts When Its White On Black
Squirrel_Basher replied to charlie caller's topic in General Talk
What Charlie is trying to say but hasn't got round to yet us that we hate the rag head filth that infest our country like termites chipping away at the fabric of society ,undermining years of healthy values and polluting the very air we breath .The sooner we have more marches the better ,f***ing filth . -

Terriers, Ferrets And Mink
Squirrel_Basher replied to Hands of Stone's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I know what the law says but you will need more than two terriers to get mink on the move even if you find one .You wont believe where they can get and until your dogs have been on a kill you are hunting blind .i would be inclined to trap one and let them see the live then dead body .i whipped in to a bobbery pack for 3 seasons .We had 6 couple of hounds all entered and two terriers also entered but on a line we only ever get a view a couple times per season and we were out every Saturday and two evenings .Mink hunting season was in summer mind .Almost all kills were from a dig or hounds kill -
Fox Earths......do They Exist
Squirrel_Basher replied to mudman's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I watched a vixen drawing an earth one evening when stalking on the opposite valley to me .it was sandy and she shifted some dirt too in the very same manner of a terrier pulling back with her front feet .i would say a fox would much rather utilize an existing place than start from scratch but must happen some places .Old badger settes favoured here . -
How To Backfill A Fox Den
Squirrel_Basher replied to blitz87's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
We take the mixer , ton of gravel and 10 bags cement ,i hate easy digging . -
When things arnt going plan and your on your own it sure is good to see a mate arrive you've phoned.15 miles from me there's a place that looks very innocent ,it can't go any more than 1.2 .I entered a dog earlier this season and got a mark of .9 ,lovely .About .6 I hit rock ,bed rock .I first thought it was a stone so widened the dig but no good .Bar bounced off ,my hands were stinging so I phoned a mate who couldn't get there until after work ,another 2 hours and told him to bring his breaker and genny.I could hear the fox below kecking and dog doing her war dance .When he arrived we got to

Digging Dogs V Bolting Dogs
Squirrel_Basher replied to david901's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I guess at the end of the day (hate that saying )some peoples take on things are so diverse as to be unable to categorise a dog into either one or the other .Also a lad may set out to work a type and end up with another and for some as long as it grafts that's OK .My own views are very apparent but there has been days when I've been under the weather but still out ,when I've wished for a bolt that never happened but I guess weve all done that .There's a difference between a first encounter underground and the mark to which we dig to in that I'm convinced most first encounters are mid tube .Tha -
Digging Dogs V Bolting Dogs
Squirrel_Basher replied to david901's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
The best years are there to be had for anyone with the sense to live them mate, lifes what you make it, we wont be dragged down to their level, not real terrier lads. Proper terriers are here to stay mate dont worry bout that!Seriously mate the best years are gone ,maybe its the advent of the internet that allows people access to a little bit of knowledge ,maybe we are breeding quitters that in turn like to own quitters ,maybe i should stop reading all this shite and not get so involved. -
Digging Dogs V Bolting Dogs
Squirrel_Basher replied to david901's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Not just the last poster but i never knew the terrier was in such deep shit these days .Seems to be a growing trend of jackers that own terriers ,the tyke dosnt stand a chance .Two ends of the spectrum breeding for opposites .So glad ive seen the best years TBH. -
Digging Dogs V Bolting Dogs
Squirrel_Basher replied to david901's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
If terrier enters a spot and runs Charlie round a bit ,its in the lap of the gods as to whether he makes it to an entrance or is pressured to a stop end .Any dog will bolt a fox thats not been hunted .Lets not get all Plummer on the issue ,terriers have no concept of a bolt or a stay ,its either in them or its not .If the fox is pushed to a stop or found in one then the terrier is gauged by what happens next .If the dog is singing away nicely then all of a sudden gone ,either fox has gone over or dog has been pushed back .Its only a fox has been said before but if he wants out then it takes th -
WCM ......Coursing hares is now illegal too but hasnt seemed to of stopped you .You have shown yourself to be all i despise in this game .Puppy pedlar running scared .You would be better off out of it ,better for the breed and terriers as a whole . Where in reality is it illegal to rescue a terrier when stuck in the protection of gamebirds .I have permission slips for eveywhere i go .Anybody working terriers these days would be sailing close whether youve a yapper or a sticker.Bear that in mind before putting anything on the open forum .Walking anywhere near an earth these days with terrier

Digging Dogs V Bolting Dogs
Squirrel_Basher replied to david901's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
When a dog of any sort goes to a fox in a stop end ,the metal of the dog is measured whether you like it or not .If that fox then bolts the dog has been found wanting ,no ifs or buts, the fox has got over the dog or the dog has given ground to a spiteful quarry .Some very strange notions about concerning this but its very cut abd dried .Either your dog wants it or it dosnt . -
I was once prepared to give WCM the benefit but today he has shown himself to be no better than an anti in fact worse as he claims to be from within our ranks .A sad day indeed .Plummer would have been so proud in fact he is probably a love child of his .Thankfully there are still plenty of lads prepared to rescue terriers when they get stuck rather than cursing them .I had a pm a while back that really should of opened my eyes but i chose to ignore it .Anybody thinking of a day with him think again .Cannot believe anyone in the game would even think of that let alone write it .

Gift me a pup and it will get the graft mate ,the catch for you would be the word gift im sure but i live in hope .
-
You would be more than welcome mate .
-
Thats why i bought a rifle .This will rage on forever but to me a terrier is more than a cover buster ,drain yapper but thats just my take on it .Fatman says any terrier will work a fox ,true to some extent but how many can be relied on to see it through no matter what ,only the best and there lies your answer to why passion comes into it. Unless you are paid then laziness is the only criteria preventing anyone from owning the real deal.
-
well said bud bin trying to get that across for the last two year on here, atb Keith, j.Perhaps i could come to you then mate ,i have a few dogs in need of a ratting sesh and maybe help out with a few foxes ,genuine post .WCM its not all about you mate ,you are not the voice for Plummers Uk ,the offer didnt include you as ive no desire to watch foxes dancing in nets or you dancing the other way lol.

This the internet mate where messers hide and anyone can be a hero .In the flesh is where it counts. To put your money where your mouth is, is not an option when the whole world can see a pic or two whether they are mocked or not .If i come across as condescending its not because i am, its more to do with a desire to pass on knowledge to anyone interested ,a fact im fast losing interest in due to recent phone conversations .Im very consious i wont be doing it for ever and would like to think i leave behind some knowledge and the odd dog bred for purpose .How many of you can truly say you wan

Why do the Plummerites think my offer is about ego .Working the dogs far outways any ego i have .Im nearly 50 myself not a teenager full of testoterone .My offer is genuine as anybody taking it up would see .ive seen every other type go and would be interested in style .Plenty of other lads on here have been to mine and can testify if they feel the need .As for Plummers being the future thats shite .The future is what you make it regardless of any unjust laws .The numbers game plays no part in my life as with all lads that like a dig .Its the digging that matters not how many foxes bolt from a

Guarranteed to find a fox or two .Last chance .Weve some decent ratting coming up too if that tempts anyone but you must dig to your Plummer whilst here

Windup merchant lol ,no input at all ,I say ban him .
-
From experience the best constructed ones are useless if they are place wrong .Out the wind but more importantly ,out of view of the public as well as the go anywhere brigade in short they need to be kept quiet.Concrete blocks rub the terriers shoulders badly mind if narrow.

Some of the Plummerites are now confessing to not owning all rounders ,something so far that has been missing .I wouldnt want an end to these posts as its good to discuss lol.I would say 95% of Plummer owners never have earthwork in mind when buying one but are over the moon if it does go whereas 95% of black terrier owners expect it and are pissed off when they dont .Physically Plummers seem to have it all ,mentally maybe the King Charles Spanial let them down .I would love to see a Plummer go ,earthwork so if any of you fancy a day out please dont hold back .
