    which dogs of n s do yours go back to? Didn't he have some trouble with blindness in a certain line? Bit contraversial mate so wont put names up suffice to say ive heard nothing about any blindness in his stuff .

    Did you get said bitch from Wheeler mate and how much DID you pay .He was quite sketchy on breeding the one time I visited and I've since gleaned what I needed from others though been lead a bit predictably .One gap needed is Razors sire .Wheeler pointed at a dog that was barely older than him .pm if preferred .

    Scalpel along the remaining bones mate and remove the muscle .As a kid i had a decent collection on my bedroom wall until the beetle got them .Only way to stop the rot .

    You do have a point mate but this is the internet and evey detail will be scriutinised and jumped on .Realise that and let jt go over your head .Theres lads on here that maybe havnt dug to a dog in 10 years yet they still want an input . Theres those too that dig tgeir dog twice a season and still feel the need to belittle others .Been around it all for long enough now to not give a shit what negativaty anyone has to say .Used to be as bad but now chilled .

    how long did it take to realise this stud was causing a problem Only used him once over a bitch that produced 4 pups .3 bitches 1 dog .The dog went missing on excersise believe picked up by some scroat .Although the bitches were reasonable ,only one was bred off luckily and she had just two pups a dog and bitch .Dog was cleft and culled ,bitch is my old bitch Blade i still have .All dogs to that stud proggressively go blind in both eyes though has to be said ,Blade has only the one dodgey eye aged 9.Never bred her as the eye was evident from a year old .Other bitches now dead .The owner of

    Got to love the internet ,lol. My only regret was using a Nuttal dog from the South Devon hunt kennels that carried the gene for inherent blindness . Luckily he wasnt used blanket and i was able to stop breeding to those affected ,the last bitch of which is in my yard now ,the old bitch Blade .

    This ive learnt and tried to pass on .Dog aggression ,dog opposed to bitch is definately hightened when he gets used for stud often .Wheeler stuff was and is bad for dog aggression . I take full responsibility for my mistakes ,i was living at home with limited space and too many animals ,just needed saying . The N S stuff i now combined with mine is more level headed but id not trust two dogs together .Also this has been over 28 years spread ,which taken in context who has not had a kennel fight .The difference between a live dog and dead is only a mattter of either being there at the time

    I always prefer a stud to cover all bitches but just my way .That way everthing is double bred .b

    Glyn ,would you not have done anything different from your tree ,in hindsight to keep size up or was not an issue .i e would you have brought in an outcross sooner .

    To me and i stress only my opinion ,a line is nothing unless the outcome of a mating is predictable .Haphazard turning in just because they are related will be the ruination mate .Not every dog and bitch related will produce the same when mated .Trial and error to begin with is what matters until you hit on what works .Simliar comes from repeat matings .Once these are produced ,put back to original stud and your off .Breed enough to sort through to start with but avoid mass production as things move on ,will only lead to it getting out of hand and untried stock used in matings .Look to the fut

    Glyn ,do you choose a stud on its size ,its work or its relationship to the bitch intended or a combo of all .Pm if preferred .

    Is there a door that closes behind them ground level or does it rely on them needing to get away from the smoke .If there's a door then its single catch only ,if not what's to stop it returning to ground as I've seen it many times when they are approached .Just curious.

    Years ago and I do mean years ago live foxes was my thing .Only got bit twice but the nerves creep in as you get older and reactions slower .To the OP ,its onsite mate or risk prosecution if stopped .PS IF you do move the trap to a better place watch your fingers through the mesh .Better to use zip ties then lift with these and don't shoot on a concrete floor obviously .

    Move things around mate .Clean the bedding and don't fuss her as this reinforces any dog aggression she may have at the moment .Plenty of exercise too .

    Who made up the term family ,what is that ,dog ,bitch ,three pups and grand dam annex.A group of the same is a type. I agree all credit remains with original breeder until the recipe is changed then all credit goes to he who maintains a line or better still improves it .All lines start with a type whether related or not ,the aim being to combine the best qualities of both to produce producers of the same .When these producers are arrived at its time to call it a line .The quick fix is to turn back in ,those with patience however will breed the best to the best and accept no other .

    You've just answered your own question .Anyone can do it ,all you need is good root stock and the strict stockman ship of test and cull .You ask how many have this in kennel ,mate there's loads about but do your homework first before committing .Self restraint when considering breeding mate .In the early years you need to study what's worked for other people then you will realise what works for you .Scatter breeding due to ignorance is no longer an exceptable excuse with the in and outs of line breeding plastered all over here . Hopefully someone will put up their own line plan soon .

    It was written tongue in cheek mate .Refers to the breeding of two opposite types .I'm no expert by any stretch but what annoys me is the haphazard breeding that goes on with no forward plan .
