    I think anyone who's lost a terrier will be a bit watery eyed after that mate ,I know I was .Its very easy to focus on a special dog to the exclusion of others .Even to the point of putting off matings ,scared it won't happen again . The lesson to anyone is get a litter while the dogs alive and keep in touch with the new owners .

    Lost a dog years ago in a slurry pit and I'd never rat near one again .Rats skip over the crust but not the dogs.Makes me shiver to think of it as that was a bad day .

    I would say a mixture of both suits me but then again I'm easy going and get on with most .Met a few lone diggers and one thing seems to ring true ,they are miserable feckers lol and probably have no choice .Like has been said the craic is half the day .

    I remember a show near Gloucester when an amusing event occurred .I was judging terriers which hadnt started yet and was sat just taking it all in ring side .My name was on the program and I overheard a rather large women talking to a small crowd that she and her husband had dug with this judge ,naming me .I let it run before asking politely what this judge preferred in terriers to which she said he's a black dog man I think to which another in the group said no he's a lakeland man .I had never met any of them , imagine their surprise when I was judging .That was by invite of the late Stuart F

    To some extent ,judges are to blame for the rise in the strive for perfection by putting up dogs that are just too perfect from known messers.I've judged a few and always try to quiz a bit whilst handling a dog .I've seen scars cut in with a razor blade then rubbed with boot polish ,honest ,just to add to already perfect image .I've seen white blazes covered in black too ,why will remain a mistery.Unfortunately the posing seems most prevelant in lakie stuff with clipped dogs on tip toe .The judge can only judge what's in front though and I cringe knowing the whole class is a farce and I've t
