  1. Do you want to buy a mount or get one done he's dug .A mount killed elsewhere would have no feeling attached .
  2. Not infallible as I've just taken a load down hanging on the wall that were falling to bits but meths is the thing shampooed out and hung to dry .
  3. Trade secrets lol .Absolutely stunning mate and a rare specimen to boot .Pm me what you might charge for a mount like that bud .
  4. If this is a cross section of so called hunt support then god help you .This man is protecting his lively hood whether hounds were intentionally attacking or just being a nuisance .Most of us here rely on farmers for our hunting,we kill foxes to protect lambs but feel hard done by when a farmer protects his sheep from a perceived threat .Hypocrites the lot of you .Seen enough rioting of hounds all over the Ilse to know things do go pear shaped when not in check and seen the aftermath of prem births left behind .Don't try and cover up what is undoubtedly a case of riot . The blame lies solely
  5. Got one already Matt as well as a double braided hair net for the really cold days .Just need 20,000 acres now with deer, to ride it on .
  6. Years previous have seen numbers up around the seventies mate .Quite a modest year actually
  7. I couldn't agree less,( and I enjoy a lot of what you post here) If you've never tried any other way you wouldn't know any better. I can see the benefit of your approach, all the blame is attached to the pup. None on the handler. One of the skills I admire most in a good terrier man is in getting a dog started, be that knowing when it's mature enough to start or knowing how to best handle that individual dog. Some need to be wound up, some need winding down a little so they calm down and follow their nose, some need company the first time, some will switch on just tied at the entran
  8. I would say there's a couple of hundred on the estate mate .I use to walk everywhere too mate but that's taken its toll on my knees so the quad will keep me at it longer .The keepers use quads and in the main they were a bit wary as they've shot a few in the run up to the cull but what the quad did allow was to cover more ground faster than stalk, back to the truck ,move on ,repeat .Also I like a bit of offroading lol.
  9. Without going into detail that's been covered a hundred times mate ,basically if a dog ain't doing it by two years of age its not for me but those ,luckily are very few and far between .I would of thought that being as you've been in the game for a while you would of come across lines that are easy starters without the need for winding up . I personally would never persivere with a young un that won't self enter and to me its a cull but that's just me .You state you've never had one walk which I find odd as I've seen a few started and not want any more and that's over 30 years at it . 10. Self entering should ,in my humble opinion ,be a trait you breed to .
  11. Had a write up with it that never uploaded so here is the short version again . Took part in a cull on the local estate where the fallow have to be kept down to qualify for the woodland grants available .I get to do the boundary woods and copses .New quad so made use of it .First buck was from a group of 7 matures that were in various stages of shed .Nothing palmated allowed so have to be careful when they are bunched . Rode around for a while until I glassed a group in a game crop still standing and managed all three with first two neck shots and a chest on the last as it moved away a bit
  12. Someone did help me and that's what we are trying to do with Chesney mate .Just for the record ,this facade ain't cuddly .
  13. When you got your first good dog Did you buy in or was it gifted and if they had told you to piss off would you have good dogs now. I wasn't told to piss off so never know lol.And they were gifted .
  14. If Fireman is the pillar of the community others would put him up as why then is there a staged pic in the first place ,anyone answer me truthfully that and I will apologies profusely to the man .Since when has an on site ,after contact pic been frowned on ,never .When has a dirty dog been frowned on ,never and she's unmarked so no fresh wounds either to antagonise the terrier police .Keep it real or don't bother . Those that call me out for whatever reason are probably the type easily impressed or have a Plummer themselves they wish would work proper ,myself ,I'm not so easily won over . Cl
  15. My own opinion is that a terrier needs no encouragement to work and should know what's expected .I personally like to take the young un to a spot and let him do what he's bred for ,no encouragement ,no winding up ,no praise ,no company .If your young un won't go ,its either not ready or its not for me .Obviously one outing won't tell you that but a few would tell me all I need to know .The method of allowing a pup to watch an older dog dug to is alien to me so I can't say how it pans out suffice to say I wouldn't want any pup of mine to have to get wound up before it will meet its quarry whic
  16. Forget experienced dogs mate . The young un will either go or not with or without seeing another go . All this does is wind it up unnecessarily.
  17. Wise words Chesney , Will it be Hawks now then mate lol
  18. You need to listen to what others say mate, have said . Put him up til next season and if he's cut out for the job and indeed you then the pair of you will go from strength to strength
