    you are absolutely right that i dont have first hand experience and i already said that. But i have owened ferrets, never hunted them though. And your saying a ferret will bolt a mink? Id like to see that. Not saying they can't just find that hard to believe. Have your ferrets ever caught and killed a muskrat? Or do they just catch rabbits? Because there is a difference between catching something that isnt trying to kill your ferret or mink verses something that is. Ive done alot of research on both and im going with the mink because there bigger and stronger and are natural killers. But like

    Rippon, you are talking of something you have no first hand experience of. Lads here are brought up ferreting so they know a thing or two about them .Ferrets will drag stuff out of holes but it's not training ,just some prefer to dine elsewhere other than a hole ,same with mink .Our ferrets are kept well fed and can be fed on the morning of a hunt with no drop in hunting desire ,not so with a mink ,in my experience they get grumpy when full up and disturbed ,preferring to sleep .Our ferrets are mostly kept with a little bit of body coverage unlike their wild cousins the polecat.     The mink is much faster than even the sleekest ferret ,will dart about like a stoat . I reared one with ferrets in a large aviary once and the difference was there to be seen .As for use as a hunting aid it failed miserably ,not for lack of killing as that's all it did so had to be dug wherever I put it whereas the ferrets bolted most .It wouldnt entertain rats though but did catch a duck when trying her for rats along a stream .The whole lot was let free from my set up by some scrote who cut the wire .Ferrets stayed local but mink was never seen again .I got the mink when out with the Ytene m
