    This quote from you is why you will never get my respect as a terriermen. Any terrer going to ground has the ability to bolt a fox or for that matter a decent sized ferret .A bolter does so because it gives ground to a fox not through any superior breeding or intellect .The real deal ,either man or dog hates a bolt and lives for the dig .There are beddies getting dug to but the lads doing it don't shout about it What you have Mort is as you put it ,dross and have no place in taking the breed forward ..

    Was talking to a lad older than me recently that used to do a few and it fuelled curiosity .He said they don't often bolt but ge also said he had a terrier drowned by one in deep water .Apparently it was a free for all for anyone with the drive to do it ,no pem needed .

    Anyone got any back in the day pics of hunting coypu on the broads and what did you think of the game versus dog back then ,were they a pushover .

    My first job was as a groundworker with a small firm .I was good mates at school with the bosses son which was my in .I knew the family well and was surprised one day to be told the youngest son ,a strapping lad was being bullied at school .He was a bit soft though and we tried to get him involved whenever he worked with us which was becoming more frequent due to him not wanting to go to school because of the bullying .I uncharacteristically felt a bit sorry for him and used to take him fishing during which time he talked about it a bit to the point i thought enough was enough .He used to cat

    Went from there to nearer home .No snow just bloody rain . Tried a corner of rough ground for 6 catches then walked the fields to clean dogs off

    Amazing how areas differ locally regards snow . We awoke to heavy rain whereas just into the Cotswolds it was 4 inches of snow where we were to smoke a few rats . Farmer reckons he’s infested but he isn’t but to keep the perm we showed willing with a smoker and few terriers . Long and short of it was we had about 15 .

    Most times it' the setting position that dont lend itself to a speedy kill .Seen many traps set in unsuitable tunnels including those in so called trapping guides .Half inch clearance when sprung is all that us needed to the underside of the tunnel .Any more results in thrown catches too high on the body ..Some like to bed traps in level which us fine as long as that inch drop is reflected in the tunnel above .The best trappers realise this and never make do with ill fitting tunnels .

    So will you break the law if anything else is caught in the new trap bar stoats. Trouble with this country is we are a nation of whingers ,with no drive to do anything about what is perceived to be silly change .Who is fighting the corner for the fenn?. How can 30 years of trapping suddenly be wrong .

    So if fenns are banned for stoats but still used for rats etc there will no need to buy any more as there must be excuses for non target catches .We used to set fenns for rats and caught most things .Whats the panic .

    Far as I'm aware mate it's been withdrawn from sale to the public along with baytril .Not sure if you can still get it on prescription from a vet though .It was the general overuse of it that got it withdrawn i think leading to residual effects in the birds .
