  1. As long as you wash the bellman after every dig it will give years of use .The orthodox however is just as good if a little slower .
  2. Have to admit gloves for me every time. Lad who comes out with us dont bother ,picks up rats then next minute rollng a fag ? First class pics there staff ,pity you arnt closer .
  3. Don't let the arspca catch you saying that .
  4. Cant' blame the farmer ? His farm assured status was in jeopardy due to the amount of rats .This new pesty actually puts poison down instead of just saying he has !. Would rather be didn't but can see his side too .Must be hel'l of an outlay on poison cos it's everywhere .
  5. Thats ' from when we first started mate ,about 7 years ago .The actual count is 19361.The farmer has employed a different pest controller and this chaps good unfortunately .The shed pulls are pathetic compared to a year ago where 300 plus was the norm .We do a pig farm too but share it with every airgun owner in Wiltshire it seems .They leave the dead rats lying around which is not my thing at all .pick them up and bin them .4000 in a winter is a very respectable tally mate ?
  6. Bitch on left Stevens x my old stuff with bitch pup on right out of her x Finlay dog . She’s thrown to my old stuff , nuttla x wheeler
  7. Great times Pud .Some memories there too .Wev'e never had a single White rat despite killing over 19000 on the chicken sheds to date .Had one very black on front end ,Great thread lads .
  8. Was a good thread while back ruined no doubt but started well .
  9. Having watched other lines go down that route I have noticed a distint lack of the will to want it .Ok they work but the fire I'm used was missing and most stood off quarry too far for my liking .
  10. Are you saying his one mistake is his last or am I reading it wrong because if so I'll have him if he' unsuitable..
  11. I say do away with the net altogether .We managed for thousands of decades without it .You are only censured if you are dumb enough to allow it .
  12. Didnt want to muscle in on the drag as you looked like a man on a mission ,he who shoots its and all that lol. Joking aside mate ,we really appreciate the chance to see what I regard as the most testing deer to stalk .I' like to think our management strategy is paying off down there as the quality seems to be improving in both body weight and antler judging by that beast just over the boundary . Thanks once again mate from George and myself .
  13. Some round here shoot and just leave them where they fall ,a disgusting practice by any standards .
  14. Might need to explain to some on here how first to get that smell on their hands
  15. Lol different worlds Neil .I can picture a few keepers faces if i were to say we let one go .There is no shortage here .I shoot snare and dig but still there will calls about cubs .Its very narrow minded to believe any form of control can be undertaken with terriers alone and that other methods are to be snarled at ,here in Wilts anyway .I can understand lads who are only in it for the sport aspect getting pissed off at the rifle men but to reduce numbers those same men need to put the hours in or they are playing at it too .
  16. The next day arrived much better with a cold wind and clear skies .George and myself stalked along a patch of gorse hoping to spot deer out in the sun as on previous visits . A stag caught our eye on the banking opposite but off piste. We watched as he skylines and disappeared. Sat for a while taking in the sights and were rewarded with the spotting of a huge stag atop a bracken clad mound that materialized from nowhere. He was also off piste but never mind ,just good to see .Matt arrived to say he'd shot a spiked and a young switch stag and need a hand for the long extraction to the truck wi
  17. Trip to Dorset the weekend with Matt and my son George . It was to be George’s first experience of sika having stalked many roe at home . Saturday was a washout with extremely low cloud soaking us to the bone with very few deer seen . Just before last knockings, Matt being the gent he is text me to say he had glasses a group of sika up a hedge line where he was so George and myself made our way to him . Matt guided George into a prone shooting position . I watched on from a distance . A gateway was the position Matt chose and after them both settling in a bit the rifle spoke and a young hind
  18. It happens but its' what happens next that matters .
  19. For some the season will now get into full swing with the shooting season over .Like it or not .
  20. Nature has tailored the fox to meet its surroundings. Any bigger it would a pack animal .The 15lb norm needs minimal food to support its frame despite the wanton killing it does on occasion .Having kept a fox years ago it ate less than a small terrier but would hide anything given on top its' main meal.A 20lb fox is to be remembered and many look much bigger with the long coats seen more regular these days .Forget 40lb ers they don't exist.
  21. Cant be arsed to trawl the thread to see if i posted in it but wuthout the hard ,rough type we would have no future workers to work .
