You need to be happy with fact you have dogs that get to work otter consistently
-
If it a terrier to come off best with an otter you want mate your on a downward spiral .
-
By sticking to a known source you are cutting down the odds of failures rather than like some who buy from this lad ,that lad ,try breeding scatter bred parents, never arriving at anything that will breed true .Amazes me they struggle on like it tbh .
-
None of thats relevant mate .You don’t have to own kernels full of dogs to have a line but you do need mates on the same page .Kennels full of non workers serves no purpose at all .In 32 years of digging I’ve only kennelled 19 dogs that were worked as often as possible .

You can dose the whole country mate but the chough will still last 2 weeks . It’s a virus that just needs to run its course .
-
The way I read the law on it mate that’s a self locking loop with an American snare lock so my be not be ideal in UK .Might just be my mind over reading it though .Keeper near me got into a bit of strife for put a kink in a shop bought snare which turned it into a self locker .

Caught many hares in fox snares but never a single one in rabbit snares . -
What you need is game less likely to bolt mate . You cannot influence game in fair chase as to how fast it bolts .The faster a dog enters on some stuff the faster it flies out .Otters from memory are very dog shy ,even more so where’s there’s room to manoeuvre .Unlike some earth dwellers they learn very fast ,to bolt ,rather than fight the more dog they get to see and in a watery enviroment they are odds on favourite to slip away . In years past ,otter hounds bolted the same otter many times in a day ,sometimes needing only a wiggle from a stick . You are trying to hunt something wit

I’d rather KNOW what I’m feeding and breeding than wonder if,when and will they do it again . Surely that counts for 90% of taking the game seriously .
-
Most lads only breed when there’s a need .im out the breeding game but having been burnt twice over gifted pups I wouldn’t advice anyone with any meaningful lines to gift stuff without first knowing the lad and what he’s about .Still at a loss to understand how some lads apparently mad on the game a)haven’t got a line of their own and b)chop and change terriers like my missus buys cloths . Surely the aim is find good stock ,work it ,breed it ,repeat .Not a dig at Dc but he’s an example lol happy new year to all

Kennel cough has to run it’s course ,cannot be cured with antibiotics and from your post you are doing everything right .Keeping the dog warm and quiet will not exasperate symptoms .Roughly 2 weeks and dog will be fine .

Your very lucky mate .
-
Well done on getting the lad out mate .Seems to be fewer and fewer want to know the game anymore and that’s what will kill it eventually
-

One day someone will write a book about Harcombe and I for would love to write a chapter .Hes pulled the wool over many lads eyes .This latest pup selling has me reeling considering he stood up in front of a dozen lads years ago and condemned a lad for selling on a pup he bred plus he wrote about the fact terriers and money don’t mix .Many lads been sucked in by his bullshit over the years ,something I saw through when he doubled up in the easiest of places years ago on a Welsh hillside . He one of those people that to the uneducated ,he can talk a proper day out ,tell lads the way to
