Money aside if you want the deer managed properly I would put it in the hands of a couple of lads that know the score. Bought leases only ever end up one of two ways, nobody goes there or not often enough (Some people like the idea of a lease but havnt a clue what it involves) or the deer are abused to regain the fee charged. Seen it many times with landowners frustrated either way .Quite a few leases around me end up with very poor bucks and far too many week does .I've been asked to shoot does on several leases despite not paying a penny and being at odds with the lease holder. A pair of l

Good reply Donny .We've had same sort of thing with old air raid shelter covered in sheets of tin .Dog baying was amplified due to space until it bolted much to my disgust .

Your right about it being work mate . We did see a stag but were happy to leave it as he was a fine animal . He came to a call but remained in the bracken about 100 yds away . Could of shiot him but we were both happy to watch him instead .

Not finished yet lol After collecting the previous days bag from a makeshift chiller and those we had Sunday we headed back to home calling in to my game dealer on the way with 13 deer . Kept back two small hinds and the roe for ourselves . Many thanks mate , an outing not to be forgotten in a hurry

This last weekend gone I was lucky enough to accompany Matt down to his patch in beautiful Dorset . He has recently gained more land on the strength of his efforts elsewhere . This new landowner really doesn’t like deer or rather the damage too many can do to natural habitat . The woodland has a perfect mix of deciduous and coniferous plantings at all stage of growth but previous owners have neglected to cull appropriately resulting in a marked browse line and stunted regrowth .we arrived at the ground with minutes to spare before shootable light Inside the wood we both stalked the same

I've said it before Rob but I'm sorry to say I'm not a fan of your fox masks .Your smaller mammals are however masterpieces.

Mixed girl Can we have your version of type of entering you expect and some description of schooling please All I see from you is childish comments that sort of says your way out your depth in discussion about terriers
-
I believe mr H was the first to out Plummer pubically as a fraud
-
I grew up like most lads hungry for information on the only thing i cared about ,the outdoor life ,and Plummer the only writer about that I remember with a knowledge of mixed fieldsports ,seemed to be the man to follow . I've read most if not all his scribbles and still got many of them here now . It wasn't until I subscribed to EDRD that I had any inkling of the man he really was and it left a bad taste for sure .
-
In my experience on the subject ,the entering of a terrier should be carried out casually ,no fuss no winding the dog up .Each to their own but it's no coincidence the best terriers come from the most laid back lads .Socialising ,obedience and generally getting out on a bit of mouching all leads up to the day when breeding is expected to shine through and nothing you can do from that day on ,apart from treating them well and what they are shown ,will influence how that terrier turns out. Those that havnt self entered of mine have been very few and were very noticeable in every day lif

Thought you were going to ignore me and not read any more drivel.lol . Can you explain schooling please ,I'm genuinely out my depth there .
-
Ok some points taken .Seemed much more of an achievement back then whereas today it's a given the dog will be located very soon .Some men excelled at locating whereas some never seemed to pick it up and needed the company of finders .I do remember dogs doubled up but I always used to ask why .Not confined to pre locator days either .It's the same with anything in life ,some people want the best whereas others are content with mediocre . It's a fact that quite a few wannabe terriermen would jack these days if left to find the old fashioned way .
-
Many earth were trenched to f**k ,only way to find in a deep spot .
-
Each to their own mate but I'd rather concentrate on the job in hand be that a seasoned worker or first year entry .Dogs wound up for any reason is not my thing at all and any noise just serves to give you away .Many lads been rumbled with terriers whining on couples and barking on the breakthrough .
-
There's a theory that terriermen were better back then too having to read situations not just numbers on a box .I'd say quite a few terriers and terriermen wouldn't make the grade if the locator was taken away .
-
Your making yourself look a twat mate .Are you seriously saying there's no self entering terriers about or you just on the wind up .I've never egged a dog in let alone hole ended it .Plenty of stuff here self entering .

Daughters got me the link to a webcam situated just outside the balcony of one the rooms looking out over a wooded area and already seen Martin's, Fisher ,elk and moose .They have a wolfcam up a bit higher but it's a pay thing lol.Been lucky enough to travel most years and never take it for granted .
