    Took dogs earlier to a place I do and noticed the geese were there .150 plus .Gave them a wide birth and after dropping dogs back home went down with the .223 for a go at a head shot .Closest I could get was about 200 yards ,they were starting to get bit noisy and a few were walking further away .On sticks and picked a goose facing me .Put the cross hairs on its chin and bowled him over nicely .The rest came over my head just shotgun height . If this bird eats well I’ve plans to get a few more bit more sporting . Edited to say the shot placement says the birds were quite a bit furthe

    Foxes are great survivors of injury .Out of those Ive had this year .12 were hobbling on three legs and two had limbs missing .One a front leg .Strange to see it moving but move it did and was otherwise fit and healthy .I’d say rta is the common cause of injury followed by snares then rifles .Landowner text today to say a goose went last night at his place ,I big old gander apparently .Signs of a struggle in a field nearby .The geese are out 24/7 as most geese are Ive found .If weathers good tonight I’m on it .Takes a very bold fox to tackle a gander IME .     T But yet lads are buying well worked terriers with NO questions asked mate .A genuine seller has the answers whereas a wrong un unless he’s well versed won’t have answers that fit with what’s before you .I went with a mate years ago to buy a red dog at a lads house ,warning bells rang well before we got there with the lad changing the venue few times .We eventually drove away without meeting . Anybody genuine buying a worked dog MUST have done a bit on the background of the dog else why buy it . A scarred dog don’t mean shit in this game .

    Ask as many questions as you can ,quick fire if your nimble enough .Most arseholes are easily tripped when faced with a barrage of questions ,same as car buying .Also the dog should be at ease and come to its supposed name . Anybody whos genuine won’t mind questions ,in fact invite them . Never buy a dog in a lay-by ,from a traveller camp or without some sort of background check on the seller which is easy done on the net .Any links to dog theft ,even if unproven are on there .

    Number 141 last night .Too easy really .Pulled up at farm that’s got a lot of feral pigeons about .I do it anyway but he’s not said anything until his bacteria count in milk has gone through the roof .Looked at the roosts and then into the fields for a fox .This farm is immaculate mind ,can’t understand why he hasn’t mentioned the ferals .3 foxes just sat in a field watching each other waiting for the tanker to go or some other trigger .Farmer reckons they come in for spilt milk and a chance of the many free range chicken he has that sometimes just jug in the loose straw outside the run .Can’

    Ok lads ,fair comments but I ain’t that green ,everything about it said fox from the ears to the hot spot to one side where the muntie had got up to piss that we took for blood and just a pointer Ben ,human eyes don’t reflect shine .I get that others would have done it different ,gone by the book ,gone for a dog or waited til dawn ?As a rule I don’t shoot at eyes ,saw too much of that years ago but this occasion I did and f****d up .     To be honest we were convinced it was the injured fox mate and if you’ve been in that position ,getting it dead is all that matters as they can go on a long way if pushed .The muntie was just an eye with the torch ,not a very bright eye added but there tis .Telling ut as it is has always been more important to me than any reaction off here

    Especially thermal scopes mate .Had a look through one while back and not for me .Out in the open nv not a prob ID at 300 yds on good night .Thermal scope no definition of anything bar shape it should be in your head
