  9. I agree with mole catcher, i tried with little success to motivate certain groups of the angling community to support hunting. "we are different" was the cry. I think recent events are proving me and others right. Well written mole catcher. Cheers Aled
  10. I lived in the city for a while (5years), and aspects of life there is without a doubt different, what i have noticed is that ignorance is a bigger problem than opposition. Honest discussion with people who are prepared to listen can be a good experience all round. City life has its up side but i could not wait to get home. My wife and i are both country people who lived in the city for a while before we met. Both of us wanted to return to live in our home town, which we did (we're from the same town but got together when we met in the city!). Anyway she supports several elements of country s

  12. Wife doesnt mind me going out shooting and fishing but has no interest in coming with me. Has agreed we'll have a dog soon but has refused point blank! To allow me ferets! But i do get peace to shoot and fish, and she does eat some (although not all) of what i bring home. Cheers Aled
  13. Fair point, but when it comes to politics i've always voted for the person not a party (although i will never vote labour in an Assembly or Westminster election again) Would some of you consider that as an option? Don't forget there were some Lib Dems, Nationlists, and Labour (Kate Howie) who opposed the ban and some Tories (Anne Widicombe) who supported it. Thats my story an i'm sticking to it! Cheers Aled

    NON HUNTERS

How do you define "non hunter"? I do a lot of fishing, some rough shooting, and airgun shooting, but i don't (at present) work a dog (have done in the past) what ferreting i've done has been with other peoples ferts, but i wholeheartedly support hunting, and i do enjoy reading about different types of hunting. Hope to own some ferts one day, the wife will need some persuading though...... Cheers Aled

I'm off to Irelad in May, so will challenge any spare time during the rest of May to the family. Maybe some sea trouting all nighters in June if time allows. Then praying for some summer spates to see some grilse. Sea fishing trip in Scotland in August, then depending on weather particularly rain will either try for salmon or upland browns in September. Salmon only in early October. Cheers Al

    Teenagers

Crikey as a relatively new father (he's 22 weeks) and a rebellious teenager this is frightening. Strangely though my rebellion was about Country sports, all i wanted to do was go fishing Mam didnt in principle mind, provided i got my school work done, which would you rather do?? (We also had a huge argument about me having a 410 at 13years old, she won the battle but i won the war!) Anyway what i was going to say is that when i went to college (yes i got there eventually) my relationship with my parents improved within weeks. So going away from Mam n Dad for a while can be a real help. Since

  21. I'm a community development worker in a disadvantaged community. My job is to try to work with the local people and economically improve the area by bringing in money from Europe, Lottery, Parliment etc. Setting up commuity projects and events (e.g. new community hall, improve the childrens playground etc) and helping people back into training either for work or volunteering. Sometimes its the best job in the world, sometimes its the worse. Cheers Al
