  2. Hello All Does anybody out there know of a self catering cottage/chalet etc with its own salmon fishing, within walking distance of the cottage available in October or November? If it has a pub within walking distance great. Those of you who know Rivermead or Wainsford in Cornwall will know what i'm looking for. Cheers Aled

  4. My boy is 2 years old, and loves the tour of the back of the garage, where my fishing and field sports stuff are kept. He'll often pick up a fishing rod and say in Welsh that Dada is taking baba fishing. He hepled me gut a trout on Wednesday. Personally i dont think thats a bad start! Tight Lines Aled

  6. Cracking photo! My boy is only 2 years old and i do hope he plays rugby, its in my family blood i retired from the game last year at 37! He's sussed out how to maul and make the aggressive noises already! Knowing my luck he'll do something totally different like play football! Cheers Aled ps Only joking regarding football i've got a dark secret very dark secret actually i got a county cap playing football, only had a district trial playing rugby......
  7. I've done some coarse fishing and am looking forward to doing a bit more in the future. But fly fishing for sea trout at night is my big favourite. At the end of the day does it matter? If you enjoy your fishing whether its coarse sea or game you've succeeded in the most important part of fishing (in my opinion) i.e. enjoying some sport. Tight Lines Aled

  12. I think its realistic that there may be some adaptations to the excisting law, e.g. increase the number of hounds you can use to flush fox deer mink etc, but i'm sorry to say that i dont believe that any government will reverse the ban fully. However i also feel at the moment that not a single major political party has the stomach to ban or consider banning any other country sport. Cheers Aled
  13. I recently read Clarissa Dickson Wrights book (spilling the beans) she is an alcoholic (hasnt had a drink for many years) and writes about her drying out period. Also she writes about hunting etc so its an enjoyable country read. It talks about addiction in some detail so would suggest you have a look. Secondly if aggression is a problem why not find an outlet? I was hitting the bottle a little bit too hard about 5 years ago, knew i had to do something, so i went back to play rugby after 2 years out of the game. It was a good move i lost 2 stone in weight, found sobriety had its strong points,

  20. Hello All I'm looking for some help. Where can i find a list of guides who take people pigeon shooting? Tried BASC, shooting times etc ads, there are some but nearly all a long way away i.e. Scotland, cracking country though it is i am looking a bit closer to home. I live in West Wales, but would be consider Welsh Border counties, e.g. Glos, Worcs etc. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Aled
  21. I did the Rural Resource Management diploma because i wanted to live and work in a counryside/conservation field. I thoroughly enjoyed studying the subject but i could not get work in this field at all. I do live in a rural area, but had to carve out a career elsewhere and now work in regenerating deprived areas. However the course itself was excellent and i went on to do a degree in the subject. Without a doubt it has helped me in my career but its more to do with having the letters BSc after my name than the subject i studied. Hope this helps. However some of my friends did get what they wan

  23. I wish it would stop raining for a bit, river is very high at the moment. Tight Lines Aled
  24. When i lived in Cardiff a great place to get worms after heavy rain was from the soil between the cracks in the pavement, or close to the wall or at the base of urban trees. They were easy to see in the orange street lamps. Would suggest you wear garden gloves though dog mess a potential hazard. I was once asked by a Policeman what i was doing crouched next to a primary school wall at 11pm in a waterproof cammo jacket. Thankfully one of the policemen was a barbel angler and impressed with my worm collection! This may sound like a joke but i promise you its not. I'll be out one the pavements
