  1. Hi Micky, I drill a hole about an inch down from the top to take the net draw cord, they won't split, but i do this when they have dried out a bit. The banded "groove" is just my way of marking my net pegs so i know the nets are mine, as sometimes on big contracts i have 2 or 3 other ferreters working alongside me and they like to use their own nets.....that way we can all identify our own nets at the end of the day. Rolfe.
  2. Although the rabbit season never really ends for me, it usually slows down enough for me to prepare for next seasons pest control duties before the Wasp season starts in earnest. So i have been dodging the showers and preparing a new batch of purse net pegs......some for new nets, and some as replacement pegs for those that are worn or damaged. Being a traditionalist i utilise natures wild harvest and cut all of my purse and long net pegs from green Hazel.....it's easy to work with whilst in the green, but when dried and hardened will give many years of useful service before needing replacing.
  3. It'll fetch a rare old price too Rolfe.
  4. Modify the trigger wires on the top by straightening them out slightly with some long-nosed pliers........they will fire on a hair-pin trigger then.........should help a bit.

  10. Samward and HH asked to be deleted.........so they were Rolfe.
  11. Most kits will do just fine if left with the jill undisturbed.........i just tend to leave them to it as a rule.......unless there is some serious problem that is........but that is very rare. Just make sure the jill has plenty of fresh food and drink at all times........and they should be fine till they can feed themselves......... Rolfe.
  12. I clear a lot of young rabbits during the summer months with cages.......and like has been said...re-fresh the carrots in the evening......OR......if its going to remain dry, use cornflakes or rabbit food from the pet shop.......! Handy during a warm day...........but the mice will clear it overnight and it will become a soggy mess if it rains. But change the carrots often would be the best advice also try and position the cages in some shaded areas. Rolfe.
  13. Nature at it's loveliest and cruelest both at the same time........truly amazing what you can see if you lay still long enough. That's how it's always been ........and always will be........ Rolfe.
  14. The "Cloud" mark signifies provisional proof....... and the obelisk on a plinth is the Liege (Belgian) proof mark as far as i am aware. I have a lovely little single folding hammer (poachers) gun of this period. Rolfe.
  15. Malt..........i think they are basically the same as in England.......unless it states otherwise...IE.....not applicable in Wales. Sorry if that seems simplistic..........but thats how i would read it anyway. Rolfe.
  16. A big Texan stopped at a local restaurant, following a day roaming around in Mexico. While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful. He asked the waiter, 'What is that you just served?' The waiter replied, 'Ah senor, you have excellent taste! Those are called Cojones de Toro, bull's testicles from the bull fight this morning. A Delicacy!' The cowboy said, 'What the heck, bring me an order'. The waiter replied, 'I am so sorry senor. There is only one serving p
  17. Yes i am beginning to think fox.........certainly no mink would "Break" necks.........badly bitten yes, and the base of the skull eaten away. Were the hens free range? would a fox have been able to get them......IE not locked in a shed of some sort. A fox would certainly kill far more than it required.......i have seen the result of such a killing frenzy many times. Rolfe.
  18. I would think the culprit is a bitch mink.......probably with a load of kits somewhere. Can you tell me where the birds were killed.....IE bite to the neck, back of skull etc? If it is a mink, then a couple of cage traps may be the answer as stated. Is she anywhere near a watercourse of any sorts? Rolfe.

Well you know I hate "Cooking Fats"...........biggest killers of garden song birds there is in my opinion. Thats another brood lost this season. ...........such a shame. Never your own cat either i bet....... Rolfe.
  20. Great Pictures Malt........nice to see other peoples working teams.......dogs look well as do the ferrets...nice to see really clean cages. Rolfe.
  21. In reality these sick b*strds will serve their paltry sentences in some cushy jail somewhere, where they can re-live there sick fantasies with like minded perverts.........and then be released to commit the same crimes again and again because some "Human Rights" lawyer has demanded that they be released because to keep them locked up any longer would infringe on THEIR human rights. Once they have committed such an evil crime.......they forfeit the right to ANY human rights in my opinion........as they are no longer a NORMAL human being. What about the "Human Rights" of the little innocent vic
