  1. Well this one was stone dead...caught perfectly across the upper chest and neck area. BUT ....................! I have also caught rabbits that have NOT been killed instantly in a Mk 6 Fenn........something like a Juby or Imbra are far more powerful and efficient for rabbit control in my opinion. My few working Imbras were on another job otherwise i would have used one of them, that said..........i was reasonably sure i would take the rabbit going INTO the hole and set the Mk6 accordingly....also the way(and how far into the hole) it was set determined that the rabbit SHOULD be taken around t
  2. Guess what i am just back from doing ? :whistling: :clapper:
  3. I had a problem on the golf course where i have long term contract with a rabbit(s) repeatedly excavating a burrow on the grass bank right beneath the club-house balcony. They had just laid some new turf and this hole(despite being blocked of with stones etc) was continually being opened up every night. This was driving the green keepers mad and so something had to be done. Gassing (the quick and easy option) was a no-no.....due to the close proximity of the building, ferreted it a couple of times but nothing at home.......so back to basics.... trap the hole seemed the logical solution. So i c

  5. Got called in to ferret under some garden sheds and a woodpile........she is a regular customer and i have ferreted here often. She had just spent £600.00 on bedding plants, shrubs, roses etc and the plants were getting decimated she said. So i turn up armed only with a couple of ferrets and a 75 yrd Quickset to surround the shed and woodpile. A bit of thumping and bumping later we finished the half-hour session with....wait for it......2 fkers Still it gave the ferrets a bit of exercise (and me). It transpired that the rabbits were (as usual) traveling under her entrance gates from the fi

  9. Well funny you should ask MR T ..........I was along there the other day for a check about and it would appear that they are starting to go UNDER the new fence in a few places and out on to the cereal crop to feed. Not much activity as such though........the rabbits have been really spooked by the fencing works, and i would expect to be able to take some good bags again around winter time........when the young of the year have been using the old runs again. It will be interesting to see and monitor how the rabbit activity builds up..........watch this space Rolfe
  10. I was trying to get a shot of a Green Woodpecker excavating a nesting hole.... when i spotted this beauty at the bottom of the same decaying ash tree. (Polyporus squamosus) or Dryad's Saddle.

  12. Having been badgered, bullied, coerced and verbally threatened i have finally given in to popular demand and put up another picture of me shortly after i was just a twinkle in my fathers eye. Those cherub like features have long since been re-structured into a face only a mother could love after years of bar room brawls, rugby matches and general self abuse.....Enjoy.!! :whistling:

  17. Close Mate.........that glue-board was under the sink........always a good place to put one, but the one under the dishwasher contained the most nymphs....warm and humid and greasy i suppose.
  18. It's true that shining a light does make them scarper.......they love dark places (bit like me ) There are a lot of COCKS in the insect world....Cockchaffer is another one. What about the nursery ryhme "Ride a Cock-Horse To Banbury Cross" but perhaps we hadn't ought to pursue that one ;) As for washing your hands i always wear rubber gloves when carrying out any work that involves insecticides etc. But Mucky Bugger........oh yes. 21. I have just come back from Surveying a house for a letting agent.......the previous tenants had been evicted for non-payment of rent. "We think we have a slight problem with Cockroaches" he optimistically said. I then proceeded to show him the monitor traps i had put down a week earlier....."Slight problem....err Yeah Right..!" The entire three storey property ( Brand new house by the way) was infested with the damn things. It will take me lots of visits to clear up this sorry mess thats for sure........how some people can live like it is beyond me The picture shows just one of 20 monitor tr
