  1. Thats what all the women say :whistling:
  2. One of Stubby's kits...........cracking little worker too.
  3. The buries the rabbits come from is on someone else's permission.......and being a deep impenetrable hedgerow they have never ferreted it to my knowledge. Rolfe.
  4. I can and do set wires on the runs leading to and from the fence line as well as on the fence itself. Often I run a line of wires along the hedgerows a few yards into the fields as well. It's just that the excisting fence line was the IDEAL place to intercept the rabbits as the rough grasses made the wires all but invisible. But one of the main reasons i liked setting the fence was because the field is used for sheep grazing most of the time, so setting in the open was not always an option. Rolfe.
  5. If they were installing a rabbit proof netting system I would certainly put in a couple of drop boxes (I have a couple sitting here waiting for just such an opportunity) but alas it will just be sheep netting.......along with the obligatory strand of barbed wire on top.......which i have tried to talk them out of (thinking ahead for the dogs) without success. Rolfe
  6. I was just out with the dogs to do some reconnaissance prior to some serious fence snaring where i was greeted by the sight in the pictures. My favourite snaring site had been ripped up, the ground levelled, and posts put in ready for a new fence........thats buggered that then. It was a snaring haven along that particular fence line with rabbits travelling from the hedgerow buries...across a short grass field..... and then through the fence onto the ceral crops to feed. Thats the end of the snaring there for a while until the bunnies make fresh runs through the new fence, but at least the wat
  7. Just had a quick look........the snaring section is quite in depth and informative........some useful snippets in there. The setting height for fox is wrong though.......these want setting at approx 10 ins high........not the 6 to 8 ins as is suggested that is just asking for trouble. Maybe the foxes are a lot smaller in the USA? Rolfe.
  8. Happy Birthday to you........have a great day. Remember birthdays are good for you!.......The more you have.. the longer you live. Rolfe
  9. Fantastic to see the kids getting to play so young.........I played for many many years and it is one of the best sports to get involved with. They will learn so much at that age especially if they have a natural ability........good luck and keep at it. Rolfe
  10. So, here's the story Tired of constantly being broke & stuck in an unhappy marriage, a young husband decided to solve both problems by taking out a large insurance policy on his wife with himself as the beneficiary, and then arranging to have her killed. A 'friend of a friend' put him in touch with a nefarious dark-side underworld figure who went by the name of 'Artie.' Artie then explained to the husband that his going price for snuffing out a spouse was £5,000. The husband said he was willing to pay that amount, but that he wouldn't have any
  11. On the same subject sort of.............i have some Fenn single and double entry squirrel/mink cage traps that are simply the bees-knees..........have they stopped making them do you know? They are the most robust cages i have used to date. Rolfe.
  12. Thanks for the detailed reply it is very kind of you.........and thanks also to all the other replies, it has given me much food for thought and i think that no matter what way i approach it it is going to be very expensive Just need to win the lottery then and it will be a doddle. Regards Rolfe
  13. I wonder if anyone out there is up to date with the best and cheapest method of insuring a newly qualified driver. My 17 year old daughter is currently having driving lessons (and draining my bank account) and i would hope she will pass her driving test pretty soon (please god). Would it be advisable to add her to my or her mothers policy as a newly qualified driver or to insure her in her own right? It is going to be very expensive no doubt, but i have heard various stories like if she is added to a policy the insurance companies look at it that she will only be using the vehicle some
  14. only was to stop it is to kill the fox i reckon pal You'll never stop it ........it's called "Nature"........ :) :)
  15. where did you get you spade thing and is your probe a homemade jobber? The mole "spade" is a cut down spud thistle as we call them...........used to have a long handle and was used to dig thistles out of grazing land. You may be lucky enough to find one in an agricultural sale of old farm implements. The mole dibber was made years ago by the village blacksmith.
  16. Had a walk round with the dogs to check a few buries and found the evidence of nests of young rabbits being dug out by fox or badger.........pretty sure this was the work of old "Charlie" and not brock as the holes were too neat and tidy for badger activity .......the holes always look more ripped apart if a badger is responsible. The White Mink

Great pictures those ...........but that's a silver/sable type i would say........deffo not white. I trapped 8 like that off one lake last season. Rolfe.
  18. If you think that hurts.........then try trapping your fingers in a Talpex As OTC said it is best if you can see how they are set either first hand or on DVD.
  19. Looks like you have just enough room to place a bodygrip in a cubby in FRONT of that pipe, chuck a few reeds and grasses over it and it will be all but invisible to the two legged theives that like to avail themselves of traps for nowt. Rolfe
  20. She is a lovely bitch........very fast and a superb jumper.......! Thanks T7
  21. Tracey........the modern digital cameras are a godsend for numpties like me. They are so simple to use and the results can be spectacular. No more sending of pics to "Trueprint" and waiting for the snaps to arrive back two weeks later only to find you have missed your intended shot. With the digital technology the finished picture appears in front of you and if you are not happy with it then just snap another. In granny and grandads day it was a mammoth undertaking to get just one shot like that picture. Looking for some models to practice on...........might go into glamour shots next.......
  22. Just a few pictures from todays mooch with the team..........chased rabbits everywhere........lovely weather for a stroll though........plenty of young rabbits about.
  23. rolfe i usually avoid these tight elbow bends as the mink usuallyrun across them, better on the straights, also i found that mink usually run the left hand bank going upsteam on big rivers and good sized streams , there is one local stream that i set, ive seen me taking 9 out of one trap on the left bank going upstream and 4 from the right downward side , 13 out of two traps on the downward side of a small stone bridge, if there is more cover on one side they will always keep to this bank , if good cover on both sides the kill rate is about equal , if there happens to be an outstanding feature
  24. Phil Haynes is the guy..........I have one of his breeding and is a cracking rabbiting/net dog.... easily the best dog i have ever worked with ferrets and nets. It's all in the lap of the gods when buying any pup........but like all litters you get good bad and indifferent amongst them. But Phil does have a reputation for producing consistantly good litters of pups. Rolfe.
  25. I was out setting some mole traps on the golf course (just 8 traps in a problem area) and it was glorious sunshine. I had intended to take a few snaps of the Mole infestation.........I like to waft the "before and after shots" under the managements nose from time to time to let them know what a good job i'm doing. Well it went from brilliant sunshine to a blizzard in less than 5 minutes.........The shot of the snow was taken when i had got back in the 4x4 to shelter........Spring has sprung eh! Rolfe
