  1. A few more threads like this and there'll be a litter on the ground lol
  2. Sounds like you boys can shift some soil lol, I'm very surprised that out of 8 occupied earths you never dropped on a pair ??
  3. Cheap motor that how rough is the bodywork ?
  4. the word terrier means "belonging to the earth" in old medieval Latin or [/size]terrārius of the land, a terrier is a terrier but its the attributes/conformity to a type that characterise each name whether that be a patterdale or a pitbullWell I seem to have misplaced my Latin dictionary somewhere, so I'll give you that one but like I said before looks mean fuckall unless your showing. If I had to choose between an ugly c**t or a very smart one with all the correct conformation I'd pick the ugly c**t every time because you can bet your life that smart one hasn't been bread purely on the basis
  5. The name Terrier means a multitude of things and can be split into hundreds of categories. Genuine working terriers come in all shapes and sizes and should be graded on there work not there looks.
  6. they look like they do for a reason and a show ring is not the reason more the conformation of conformity, personally i have never entered a dog in a show but when i have bred, i have done to achieve a type to suit the work its required to undertake, that's all shows are for and the crack. Imo good conformation means very little when it comes to working terriers, it's always nice to see a smart terrier that can work to a high standard but from my experience there as rare has hens teeth.I've been lucky enough to see hundreds of dogs from all sorts of strains work over the years but the best I'
  7. I think when people refer to a dog has a fen dog, they might mean a couple of things like, the dog needed at least half a mile before it even gets on terms with a hare lol, or the dog was capable of killing the best hares this country could provide. A good hare dog is a good hare dog IMO but we all knew a place where the hares were easy enough to catch compared to other land where they were a lot harder to catch.
  8. Put him in the for sale section under "genuine digging dog" with a trial.....lol
  9. Technology has played the biggest part in the demise of good dogs, ie the internet. Never has it been so easy for the pedlars to gather all the bullshit they need to sell pups to the idiots that believe the shite they type.....lol
  10. Colour or looks should be the last thing on a decent dog mans mind, once you start trying to create a looker, it usually goes down hill from then on. Looks only count in the show ring.
  11. I've never trapped a fox before but a friend of mine catches quite a few throughout the year, he puts turf or soil on the floor of his trap so the fox isn't spooked by walking on the mesh, he also baits just outside the trap for a day or so until he sees the bait gone then he baits the trap and usually catches the fox within the next couple of nights. He normally uses a dead pigeon or chicken for bait.
  12. Mine has never been that accurate, we seem to end up down the side of the tube a lot but it only seems to happen on the shallow digs, I think I'm gonna upgrade to the barryvox soon.
  13. I know what I can earn per hour and catching moles just wouldn't cut it, I just fancy giving it a go with the intension of trying to get the digging perm on a neighbouring farm I have. At the minute he won't let us dig on there but in time he might change his mind, if he did I would sort the moles out for free as there not at epidemic levels. The reason I asked how much is the going rate is because I haven't a clue and I don't want to look like a greedy c**t or a muppet that will sort them out for peanuts with no real reward at the end of it.
  14. I don't want to overcharge or undercharge but I don't know what would be the going rate, It's probably impossible to overcharge a farmer anyway as all the ones I know still live in the sixties as far as prices are concerned lol, but I just want to know what I should be charging minimum, pm if you prefer.
  15. How do you lads go about pricing mole jobs up ?, do you charge per mole caught or per trap set ? Or just a daily/hourly rate ?. My mate used to control the moles for the local school a few years ago and he charged them £5 per mole, the sly f****r used to freeze them and take them back out the day before he went to set the traps again, those same moles must of earned him a small fortune lol. The reason I asked is because one of the farms I do the terrier work on asked if I could get rid of some moles on his neighbours farm, but he told me to charge him properly as he won't let anyone dig his
  16. I still prefer the old collars that you have to change the battery's on, there a lot stronger than the rechargeable ones.
  17. Haix are the dogs danglies....
  18. Save yourself the hassle and get a pup from the stuff we have over here, I can't see a jagd been any better than the stuff we already have.
  19. I've got 2 pairs of haix and there the best boots I've ever had, one pair are on there 3rd season and are still in great condition after a good dubbin, the other pair are still like new because I only wear them when I've been to lazy to clean the other pair off....lol The only fault with them is the grip on the soles very slippy when on wet muddy slopes.
  20. I treated 4 lurchers at the same time with ivormec only 1 of them contained collie blood and that was the one that had the bad reaction and nearly died. They were all given the correct doses aswell, maybe it is a myth but in my case it seemed to prove it wasn't.
  21. I've used crovect in the past with no problems but now I use ivormectin (pour on). I did however have a lurcher that had a really bad reaction to ivormec years ago and nearly died as a result. The lurcher was a collie cross and I was told afterwards that ivormec can't be used on dogs with collie in there makeup, I've no idea why or how true this is but it seemed feasible in my case.
  22. I thought the barryvox element was just the same as the pulse minus a load of features we would never use ?
