  1. Hair colour and nose length look familiar lol
  2. Where these dogs from Barnsley/Wakefield area ?. I got one off a big bloke with ginger hair about 10 year ago but just can't remember what area I got it from. The dogs still alive as far as I know just down the road from me.
  3. Bang on foxdropper. Why would anyone want to put there dog up at open stud when it should be getting put back over close relatives.
  4. Breeding to approved bitches etc is bullshit..if your dog is good enough to stand at stud, then he should be used to raise the standards of the strain...as to encouraging peddlars giving out free services?? It should discourage peddlars as more litters around therefore less demand for pups...approved bitches were for studs that lads were afraid to stand over as they might throw shite and decrease stud values.I disagree if Nick Stevens for example put a stud dog on here available to all then his inbox would be full in an hour.I doubt the hundreds of pups born as a result would go to genuine peo
  5. I don't know how many birds one of my farms put down but it can't be many I've only seen 1 pheasant in 2 years lol I can't start until they've finished shooting but by Christmas there usually done.
  6. Just out curiosity how many digs would people have in genereal every year As many as they can is the only real answer to that mate.
  7. Look mate I dont have any problems with shooting men i know plenty of them.. as long as they shoot birds and not an other mans sport thats just the way i was brought up.. surely you can understandAt the end of the dig the terrier man becomes the shooting man.Killing cubs is an unpleasant job but it's something that has to be done. I don't need to do it so I don't but I know a lot of people do which is fine by me. The only thing that pisses me off is the people that brag about it posting pics of them etc like they've done something really good, usually though there the type of people that nev
  8. Not as many digs as last season but can't complain, still pretty good. I can't wait for next season though with 2 pups to start.
  9. Cub killing is much easier for some because the weathers a lot better and they can still hunt in there track suit & trainers.
  10. Anybody with an ounce of common sense knows the REAL reasons a dog is put up at open stud and that's purely to benefit the owner of that dog. If it's to help people out like you's are suggesting why charge people then, surely a free lining would be helping them out far more ???. It's all bollocks and I wonder how many of these people you's are suggesting got helped out went on to create top class lines off that one lining ?. Why have a good dog then ruin it's good name by putting it up for stud and lining shite with it only to create more shite and then it's all the dogs fault. We've all s
  11. I don't know if Gould and Nuttall are very wealthy but if there not then there piss poor savers lol, if they can't live comfortably with the amount of dogs they've sold imagine if they never sold them, they'd be living on the streets. And a man that puts his dog up for open stood is doing fuckall for the dog world because he'll be lining loads of shite bitches as long as the owner is willing to pay the stud fee. So that means he's helping to breed loads of shite IMO ????. There's only 2 reasons why anyone would put a dog up for open stud and they can be described in 2 words FAME & MONEY
  12. I don't think there was anywhere near the amount of pedlars about then as there is now, but nowadays every f****r is breeding terriers with no thought what so ever about there working ability. It's all about the pennies these days, and I think a lot of these pedlars get there inspiration from the likes of Gould and Nuttal etc as they must of earned a lot of money over the years from selling dogs.
  13. As longs its to the right bitch an doing the job I don't see the problem , take myself I keep myself to myself I only use my dogs to drop to so how is someone like me going to find a bitch to put my dog over , I have a bitch myself but she's way to young to even be considered an my old dog is runnin out of time I'd like to stud him but don't know of bitch for myself to get a pup out of so can't see the problem with people offering stud if its proven an of age as longs people don't just stud over anything then I think it's fine , just my say thoThere is another way and it's a lot less hassle. If
  14. He f****d now broke is hand in 2 places so I've had to get involved lol. He'll be right for next season lol
  15. The last thing on my mind would be what it looked like. Everybody just wants to look at pics of dogs these days, the world is full of messers. If I wanted a dog I'd ring the number and have a chat with the seller, then I'd go from there. Simples.
  16. I think loads of people will of worked them but I doubt they'll be still alive to tell the tale. Most terrier breeds were created with work in mind but sadly the ones about today will be nothing like there great ancestors. I dare bet in a few years time people will be asking if anyone has ever worked a Patterdale with the way things are going lol
  17. Them days are long gone mate, but I still like to keep a lurcher for mooching about.
  18. A few pics of the dogs we've been digging this season
  19. Well we are just about finished for this season, might just squeeze in another outing before the shovels get put away in the shed. Had some great digs and give the dogs plenty of work so they should be glad of the rest, but I doubt it, they'll be a nightmare as normal throughout the summer. We started a couple of young uns off this season and there going great and will end on a high. We had a couple that didn't make the grade but there in heaven now and we don't have to worry about them anymore. One of the young dogs after a cracking dig 3 hours to ground and only his 4th dig.
  20. It's very rare I use couples although I have a couple of sets of strong stuff ones in the motor. I always prefer to keep the terriers pegged in singles to avoid fights when they get wound up. For this I use a spike and chain that is fixed to a strong stuff collar permanently with a D bolt, no way are they getting off that.
  21. Anyone got a link to the other thread I can't find it ?
