  1. I agree with Moo, you're not missing much.
  2. I don't throw dead quarry in the backfill anymore, dug one of my dog's out to the same thing I'd dug with him 6 weeks previous that i had shot in the backfill. And the smell wasn't very nice!
  3. Won't go far wrong with either the barryvox or the new bellman, used them both and both are good boxes. I'd personally opt for the bellman just because of the guarantee you get with it.
  4. Plenty of nice lookers, also see a lot of these 'working' Lakelands at shows, but to me it seems that the looks are placed above the working ability.
  5. I like them both, the bitch looks nice and 'cobby'.
  6. That's definitely one of Brian's new breeds (pugs), seen a few up around here that he's sent up. The one's up here have been tiny, half hearted fox dogs at best.
  7. Top one is a dog about 18 month old, bottom one is a bitch, almost 12 month old.
  8. Top one is about 14/15", bottom one about 13", that's a rough guess, I've never measured them. They should be the right size to do the job.
  9. My two young terriers ready to start this coming season...
  10. They certainly look the part. Good luck.
  11. Money is the root of all evil! Hickory charging that much for a stud is a f*****g joke, no wonder the terrier game is f****d and dogs are going missing left right and centre with money like that changing hands. What happened to it being about the love of the terriers and the love of digging? Money comes and goes!
  12. Looks good, good job! I've always fancied breeze block kennels, maybe I'll get round to it one day lol.
  13. Like I say, I've obviously been mis-informed. Thanks.
  14. Yeah I re-read the rules that there has to be at least 10 articles, and like you say with there being only 3 I thought you might have scrapped it. Change the prize to a bellman and flint and you might bump the interest up...just a little.lol :D
  15. Is the competition not happening?
  16. Just after a bit of advice really, is it ok to feed dogs RAW chicken with the bones in? I've always been told not to give raw chicken and especially never with bones in (cooked or raw) as they can splinter inside the dog?? Thanks.
  17. Nice one mate, any work for the little dogs yet?
  18. Mine has nothing to do with the dogs, she doesn't mind them when I get them as 6 week old pups but soon gets sick of them and lets me get on with it. I've never had the 'dogs or me' thing but she gives the odd dig from time to time, such as 'you think more of them dogs than you do of me' etc etc lol, ignorance is bliss and all that... Another thing is she doesn't like to get too attached to them as she knows I can leave for a days digging with one and come back without it, which has happened twice in the last 3 seasons...
  19. What I mean for example is they will let an older terrier mark or even run an earth and deem it empty then encourage their young pup to run through it knowing that it is empty.
  20. What does a whipper in's job entail? Excuse my inexperience.
  21. Good thread this, a question I would like to ask is how many lads are keen on letting young dogs run empty earths before they start proper work? I'm not keen on it and usually like to let them go when they're marking an occupied earth, but I've got mates that are keen on letting their young 'uns running endless empty earths and drains? What's your opinions?
