Hi, how were the Border ? 30 odd year ago they were, in my mind, the best pack in Northumberland. I just got back into it a couple of years ago, and haven't seen them. I've been out with the Tynedale, canny pack; but I thought the North Tyne were a very poor pack, at least what I saw of them on Boxing Day ! Brae's looked a good pack when I was over Whittinstal last year. I suppose we should be greatfull to have a choice of packs to follow !!! Cheers.

I have 3 freezers full up with game ,but I dont lamp hares anytime of year ,and I dont run pregnant ones . Our forefathers used to drive a herd of animals over a cliif to get a dinner ,should we do the same.I don't buy meat ,I don't have to but,no one has to rely on their dog to put food on the table today.My family have kept lurchers since before WW2,when a bunny was a welcome addition to the larder,times have changed I don't think you can use that as a valid excuse for running milky ,or nursing does. I didn't say it was an excuse for anything !! I said it was a hypothetical question

Now I know this will invite the wrath of the purists, and the computer hunters will jump in; but does ANYONE use a lurcher for it's origional purpose, ie, putting food on the table ? Is a lurcher only for sport, and if the quarry gets away; well done, it lived for another day ?? Did our forefathers stop hunting because it wasn't "the season"? Now before you attack me, it is a hypothetical question !! Cheers.

The big fella, Billy, was my dogs working partner, and we were out on Thursday for a run on a few : I wasn't there Friday, but I know Billy would have given his all. To see a 28" dog lamping rabbits and retrieving live to hand was great, but to see him in full flight, daytiime, on the big stuff, was a sight to behold !!! I'll miss him...... -
Hi Chartpolski Of course all hunting is done within the law. Hounds are used to flush the Mink either to a gun as today, or if below ground, it is dug out and humanely killed by the licensed terrier men, most of whom work with local Fox Hunts. Here endeth the lesson for today, next week may be a different story . Cheers Ragley; thanks for a straight forward and honest answer to my query !! Sounds like great fun !! Why oh Why couldn't the politicians of thought it through, and made mink and fox vermin, like rabbits and rats ???!! Keep up the good work !! Cheers.

Now, before anyone jumps on me, I am 100% PRO hunting; follow the hunt, work my dogs, the lot !!! But is mink hunting legal, as in rabbits and rats, (it, of course, should be!!!), a genuine question, and I would have loved to be there, sounds like a great day !!! Cheers.

Chopwell Woods, Gateshead, not realy Northumberland, but near enough. Cheers. Yeah I heard they were somewhere in chopwell woods aswell, I have had a good look through Prudhoe Woods but no signs im affraid. They are definately there; they have been rooting up the golf course, and DEFRA had a marksman shoot one. Cheers.

Bear Grylls didn't pass/finish selection in 23 (TA) SAS; so has no claim to have been a member of The Special Air Service. His credibility was destroyed when he was supposed to be living on a desert island, and was actually going to a five star hotel every night, after filming !! He also pissed of a lot of real adventurers when he claimed to have flown a microlight aircraft over Mount Everest; he may have flown a microlight to THE HEIGHT of Everest, but he was in Africa, not the Himalayas, at the time !!! Kreet is a prick; he thinks he is doing his adolescent pals a favour; every time they want rid of a dog they have ruined, he is the dope thad advertises them on here, (for a price or "free to good home"), supposedly getting rid of good dogs, to bring on another pup !! How many dogs have these kids really "brought on" ? And if they are decent dogs, why get rid of them ?? ..... Oh, and "Para 1" were you really a Para, or just a Walt ??
