-
Get the best you can, probably a 240 blitz, 'cause you can be sure if you get anything less, his mate will have a better one, and he will want to upgrade !! Cheers.
-
It started last month mate, and it's now into the second round. Get entered early next season, for the next comp, Cheers.
-
Thanks, hope to have a drink, (or two !!), with you again ! Cheers.

You're the organisor, I'll go allong with whatever you decide ! Cheers.

These forums sometimes bring out the worst in people, but this Lamping Competition has brought together people from all over the country, from Scotland to Cornwall, young and old, male and female, rabbitting dogs and fen dogs !! We're meeting old mates and making new friends !! There was a few who thought it wouldn't come off, or degenerate into argument, but they have been proved wrong !! People travelling hundreds of miles, people opening their homes to strangers, people giving up their time and permission....... all to make this comp a success !! Whoever wins it will be very proud, but whoe

I've spoken to LDR, 'cause as you can imagine, I'm not happy about the outcome, but he says as long as we had equal slips, albeit only three each, the one that caught the most wins ! It was a very hard call to make, wether to run or not,; any othe time I wouldn't have went out in these conditions, but the lad travelled 6+ hours on a train for it, so I couldn't let him down !! The same land has, usualy, pleanty of game, but the near arctic conditions meant nothing was about ! I'm gutted it ended this way, but what could I do ? Cheers. Well done mate gutted for the other lad he came 6 hours

Lamping dogs cannot be tested over three slips, like hare dogs; but when these things are planned, we can only hope for the best as far as weather and quarry are concerned ! I honestly would have liked to see pleanty of slips with a big bag for each dog, but we just have to accept these things. Cheers.

Well, just about everything conspired to stop this heat going ahead !! LOL !! Woodga was supposed to host and judge it, but he is suffering from broken ribs, made worse by taking a couple of tumbles again last night, during his own heat !! I saw him today, and the guy is in pain, how he competed last night was beyond me !!, but thats the measure of the man, he didn't want to let anyone down !! Anyhow, a top guy stepped in at the last moment and offered to host on his permission and judge. He called me at 5:30 and said get here by 6 as the frost is settling and the ground is hardenning up ! Now

I thought it was going to go "straight down the card", but was told by others that this was not the case. I haven't a clue as to how the next round will be drawn, and don't really care; as in any competition, you have to beat anyone you are drawn against to win !!Cheers.

Three of the competitors have travelled up from Wiltshire, a 6+ hours train journey !! They are returning tomorrow, (sunday), as they have work on monday. So we have tro try our hardest to accomadate them. I've had dogs long enough to know when not to risk them, and even if this was the final, I wouldn't run my dog if I thought there was unneccasary risk. Cheers.

I hope you can run the heat tonight CP but it's much the same out West mate, baltic conditions last night and on being out earlier it was still freezing hard, not looked at the forecast for tonight but it'll need to change drastically for "suitable" running conditions. All the best if you "get the green light" and go-ahead.Cheers Andy. Just checked the BBC weather site, and it -3 and fog for tonight !!! We'll have a look round, maybe find some sheltered areas, but not expecting many rabbits to be about !! Cheers.
-
It's not looking to promising for my heat tonight ! I've been out this morning in the same area and the ground is like concrete !!! Heavy frost and a forecast for fog !!! Well done lads for trying to make a night of it, but if it isn't fun, it's not worth doing it !! Hope you're feeling a bit better this morning, Col; I've been ringing you, but no answer. Cheers.

Deerhound/Greyhound Bedlington/greyhound PUP
chartpolski replied to beddlington/greyhound's topic in Optics and Night Vision
You say "Deerhound / Greyhound" pup.... then say "Deer/Grey- Beddy/Grey".. do you know EXACTLY how this pup is bred ??? Cheers. -
Well done lads, hope you carried all the rabbits, Cols ribs are a bit sore !! See you all over the weekend !! Cheers.

WAS A DECENT THREAD...... BUT THE LOONIES ARE JOINING IN NOW !! SO, GOOD NIGHT !

most sensible thing written on here in ages........ the next battle is stopping people thinking their crap dogs are good and breeding from them. There are far to many people breeding from dogs that have done nowt and bitches that are far to young !! My own bitch is 3 1/2 year old and has taken everything, will I breed from her...... yes if she has another three seasons of work equivelant to what she has allready done, and I can find a stud who is better than her at what she does, and MAYBE, then she will be bred from ! Cheers.

Wilf, this is not a critique', but how many dogs have you went through, until you have got the dog that is "up to scratch" ? Is a dog that may not be the "ideal"; not good enough to be given a permenant home ?? I am a person who has spent a lifetime looking for the "DOG", but am sensible enough to realise it ain't gonna happen !!! Cheers. Its a sensable post........to be honest, I have not gone through many (1 or 2).........but I belive that there are certain things you want your dog to do, there is one main criteria........it may do lots of other stuff well, or to a standard but it ma
