  1. A lot of people start a dog to young and expect to much, to soon !! Thats why so many Lurchers and Terriers end up being passed on or in the pound !! Let a pup be a pup, just do basic training, don't be to quick to start it running after quarry, 'cause if it opens up or jacks, it'll only dissapoint you ! When it is ready, try to give it quarry it can catch, rather than chases that frustrate it. It's tempting to slip on anything when you are starting out, but be patient and it will pay off !! Best of luck !!! Cheers.
  2. I smelled a rat when I ordered a gated panel off them; they quoted, confirmed then re-confirmed £11 delivery... then two weeks later phoned me and said it was now £33 delivery !!! I cancelled imeadiatley, and didn't lose any money !! Cheers.
  3. Well done to the Irish lads for organising and getting under way your lamping competition !!!! Best of luck to all who are in it ! Cheers.
  4. Perhaps next years comp can be a poetry comp, instead of lamping !!! Save all the travelling !! LOL !! Cheers. CP.....that dont rhyme!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rhyme ?........aint got the time ! Dogs to walk...... no time for talk !!!!!! Cheers.

  6. WorldHunter has photo's and breeding of all the dogs on his forum. Cheers.
  7. Bosun, I agree with most of what you say; it depends on the lines. Almost all bred here are purely for show. Mine was bred in Holland, from Duch/German working lines, and imported here by me from the Middle East. She is a racier , finer type than you get here. It's also correct that the lines here seldom reach a great age, but mine is about 12 and still very fit for her age. Cheers.
  8. I honestly don't knw why the Doberman isn't used, (much), in producing lurchers here. They are definately used in Australia and N.Z., crossed with Greys and Stags, admittedly for use on pigs, not the type of game we have here. In the Dobermans make up is Greyhound and Manchester, (or Black & Tan ), terrier, so the sporting dog is in there. To say a Doberman has no drive or hunting instinct is simlpy not true. My own has more drive than most hunting breeds, and has been used many times when she was younger for flushing roe and fox from cover, to the lurchers, and has been used for flushing
  9. Well, my heads so far up LDR's arse, evidently, (!!!!), he can have my vote, as I'm well known for not having an oppinion on anything !!!! LOL !!!!!! Cheers
  10. It'll be sorted amongst the people in it mate!! If it goes down the card, i'll be accused of fixing it, in fact whatever way its matched, i'll be accused of fixing it, so the people who are in it, will make a group decision of how its done!!! you should of went down the card from day 1 and you you wouldnt have had this problem this is what 95%of people think but not them who organised it even cp said it but hes got his head up longdogrunners arse now so he will not say what hes told to Rabbiteer, (or Mark), you've said on numerous occasions that the comp is a fix or going to b
  11. Rabbiteer, your childish adoration for Mark is touching, (if a bit sad and creepy !!), you didn't have much credibility before, with your constant attacks on the competition, but now you have none at all !!! Cheers.
  12. Heard of the Black Helicoptor Conspiricy Theory !!!..... But never the Black Bunny Conspiricy Theory !! LOL !! Cheers.
  13. Why do you take your dogs there, if they can't work, have to be muzzled and the farmer threatens to shot them ??????? Cheers.
  14. more of a mate of a mate - i just had nights out with him whilst out with my other mate - but i cudnt see it out on street . Not having a go at you HH, you've done the decent thing, but your mates mate sounds like the type of c##t who shouldn't have dogs ! Cheers.
  15. Is he still your mate, after he was going to toss her out onto the sreet ???????
  16. Amazing how someone who didn't have the confidence in their own dogs ability, and didn't enter the competition, is now telling the people who DID enter, how to run the competition !! As I said in previous posts, it was a call only the ENTRANTS on the night could make !! Sitting in your warm room, in front of a PC, you wern't in any position to judge !! Cheers.
  17. Well done to both of you for getting the heat run !! I know 1st hand the difficult decision it is to run a heat when the distance travelled, condition of the ground , and lack of rabbits, has to be balanced, most importantly, with the dogs welfare !! A good honest write up !! Cheers.
  18. Pakistan isn't the Middle East, and all the people I know who fly their dogs from Arabia to Pakistan hunt wild hare and gazelle. They wouldn't dream of "park coursing" captive hares, but thats not to say it doesn't go on !! As we know in that area and Central Asia they course captive wolves and foxes, so probably hares as well !! Cheers. I never said Pakistan was the middle east I was addressing Leeviews point regards Greys in Pakistanm as a seperate point to the middle east and Kazakhstan point raised by HW. I would'nt attempt to challenge you regarding your experience of the M E

  20. good dogs from the UK (or somewhere else?) went back to the middle east and couldn't cut it? Yes good fen dogs from the uk were apparently bought and taking to middle east and couldn't cut it not surprising really considering. Thats no discredit to fen dogs they simply are'nt bred to handle that or the hunting I do up here. Well, I'll ask you, MH, where in the Middle East was this, as I've never heard of it ?? Cheers.
  21. Coursing greyhounds are taken over there for coursing its fanatical and the owners are nt allowed to run for money purely for the sport and recognition Y.I.S Leeview Lee, can you tell me which Middle East countries import greyhounds and course them ?? I spent half my life out there and still visit regularly, and most of the Arab peninsular guys run their salukis in Pakistan or North Africa, as coursing is banned in most Arab countries. Cheers. Pakistan and India both have coursing federations Y.I.S Leeview Sorry mate, I'm obviously reading it wrong; I thught you were sayi
