The best (free) advice that I can give you is,..."Unless you have a predisposition towards owning a particular kind of running dog 'type' or a yen to be around a critter that pleases you visually,...perhaps THINK carefully about the actual quarry you want to capture and the geographical area that you intend to use the dog in'.. I say this because,..for me,.personaly,..the 'goal post has suddenly been moved',.and what I once required from a working partner is no longer needed... Its a bit like last seasons 'must have' fashion accessory,.. Best to give such matters some serious thou

My brother travelled from Northumberland to Norwich to buy a pup, so I suppose it was a Norfolk Lurcher !! I bought mine in Cramlington, so I suppose it's a Northumberland Lurcher !!! No such thing as a "Norfolk" or a "Smithfield"' just puppy pedlars conning people who know no better !! Cheers.

not realy the case with the clulite as i beleve they are under powered so the only lense is the 1 you get with the lamp the clear 1 built in and dont go for a coloured 1 Underpowered ??? You obviously haven't tried the Clulite 2 mcp !!! Far superior to my striker, and better built; no problems with the wiring falling to bits either. Cheers.

Not sure about Greyhounds, but my old Saluki, (pure bred, in the middle east), was 17 year old when I had him pts because of a stroke and failing liver. He lived hard and worked hard, the vet said he had never known a running dog live so long. Cheers.

I lived in Saudi for 26 years, and owned and worked a Saluki there, also knew many who worked raptors; believe me, your mate was pulling your plonker !!!! Absolutly no way would foreign species be allowed into the kingdom !!! I'm speaking from experience, not hearsay. Cheers.

The Hunting Act makes it an offence to "INTENTIONALY" hunt a mammal with a dog. If you accidently and un intentionaly pursue and/or kill a mammal with a dog, you have comitted NO offence. Proving it was accidental might be more difficult, if you're caught bang to rights, though !!! Cheers.

I'm going back over to the "Fenn hares" thread, even though the guys on that thread don't agree, at least they have done it !! This thread is ridiculous !! Anyone who compares a hare with a rabbit, lamped or otherwise, simply hasn't seen either !!! Definately never worked them !!!!! Cheers.

On another thread, you said you were 42 year old !!! And what did Thatcher do to bricklayers ??? Apart from start a housing boom !!! Skycat, I agree that some Lurcher coursing was done under N.C.C. rules, but the vast majority of Lurcher coursing, weather organised meetings or match courses, were decided on which hound killed the most hares !! This type of coursing has led to the best breeds of out and out hare coursing dogs available. It cannot be compaired with Greyhound coursing or indeed, lamping hares !! It's a ridiculous argument to equate a coursing lurcher with a dog that takes one for the pot ! If matching dogs, the law would usually be agreed beforehand. Cheers.

I've been reading this thread with interest, and i suddenly find my self agreeing with SJM, (I think!!). At the organised Greyhound coursing, surely a law of 100 yds was so that the judge could award points for the "make up", up to three points; and the kill was incedental, one point. Whereas Lurcher coursing wasn't based on points, but simply the most kills ! I've seen Organised coursing and match coursing with Lurchers, where the law has been as near as 2yds and as far as 150 yds !! I personally like both types of coursing for testing the dogs, but also like "kick-ups" when hunting for the p
