Just to answer your questions in order; yes, they should be good for rabbits and ferreting; yes, they could be ok on the lamp for rabbits; and I would say a 3/4 should definatly be faster than a 1st cross ! Personaly, I would rather go for a Beddy/Grey as an allrounder than a Beddy/Whippet, as I find them to small to be good allrounders, but many people will disagree with me on that one !! Cheers.

new commer to web due to internet connections

There'sa very old, and true saying; "If if sounds to good to be true....It usualy IS !!!" Sounds like an anti trying to get a bite, if you ask me ! Cheers. -
Natural selection and selective breeding, mate ! There's some wide open spaces out there in the Middle East, nothing for as far as the eye can see. A dog needs speed to get up on it's quarry and stamina to keep up with it. I'd imagine the wild dogs that were the forebears to the Saluki had survival of the fittest and when the Beduins breed them, looks don't come into it, best to the best and ruthless culling. I asked Sheik Hamed if he prefered Feathered or Smooth; he looked at me and said coat and colour mean nothing..it's how they perform that decides if they are good enough to breed Che

Me, LDR and my brother bought a whole roll of vet bed from a farm in Northumberand and split it between us. It was only £60, which is far cheaper than normal price. It was enought to do all our dog beds and the back of our trucks and some to spare. The good thing about it is muck and water goes straight thru' it and you can put it into the washing machine and it dries in a few minutes ! Good stuff !! Cheers.

I hate to disagree with Poacher and Gamerooster... but both my bitches were smooth as a billiard ball when I got them at 5-8 weeks old, and still not showing any real signs of "coat" at 12 weeks, but are now well and truly rough coated !! Cheers.

He'll be about 8 or 9 mate. If you pm Pat Blewitt on here, he is Flynns owner, a top guy, he will give you any information you need about the dog. Cheers. I was told my dog was a 2nd gen beddy/whippet. But looking at that its getting me thinking. Has he ever been put to a beddy/whippet or another beddy/grey halfx. My dog came of harvey on here. Beddy/Whippets and Beddy/Greys are very "typy" mate. As I said, PM Pat, he will give you any info on the dog you need. Cheers.

and people wonder why lurcher men get a bad name
chartpolski replied to lloyd-holmes's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'd doubt if the dog has done a days work in its, (short), life !! The owner has probably just got fed up of having to feed and look after it !!! He probably wants the money to fund his new hobby !!! Let's hope it's a PlayStation, or something, he wants next, and not a dog ! Cheers. -

				New International Lurcher Events
chartpolski replied to AlbertJ's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
I would imagine that a Game Fair organiser DID want you to pay to get in, and pay to enter your dog into any competition ! If nobody paid, there would be no gamefairs ! It's VERY simple..... if you don't want to pay...... don't go !!! Cheers. -
I was at Wansbeck. (Cambois, Blyth), last sunday for the Whippet Open. It's still going strong for the Greyhounds, trialing every day, and racing a couple of times a week. Cheers. (Cambois, Blyth), along with all the other flapping tracks, should be shut down, causes no end of grief for us officers, due the local half-wit trying to win some beer money. Not so long ago some fooker from wansbeck poured petrol onto a greyhound and set fire to it.Was the worst thing that was posted to our wildlife division. your the biggest halfwit on here, cant find any reference to a greyhoun

As i said, I've had, and have, dogs that have them, and dogs that haven't ! But if it was my choice, I'd rather they didn't have dew claws. BUT ... a man who I know for a fact has been involved in Greyhound and Saluki Coursing for many years firmly believes that dew claws should be left on ! It's a choice we make or don't ! Cheers. Only time a dewclaw can be used for its purpose ( apart from holding bones ) is for a running dog to grip the ground when turning.. I don't believe that, and neither doe's any one who knows dogs ! There is NO purpose for a dew claw in the vast maj

the pup in her STRONG STUFF harness
chartpolski replied to JPTfellterrier's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'm sure the dog isn't run on quarry wearing a harness. The poster allready said it was for when exercising along side a bike. Cheers. I used to be told by some one that harness made dogs broad chested cow hocked,He was a old en but he knew his stuff. When ever i see a pet dog wearing one i always look, and often they are. If a dogs only walked on the leed and not allowed to run free it will What do you mean ?? If a dog is on a harness it will get "broad chested and cow hocked" ?? I don't like harnesses, they give no control over a dog but I'm sure it has no effect on a d -

The unfortunate fact is... if some lowlife scumbag wants to steal your dog....... he WILL !! There is nothing you can do to stop it !! The stupid laws today stop you from taking what would be sensible precautions a few years ago ! If you DO stop the lowlife, you will probably be charged with something and get a worse sentance thasn the scumbag !! Just make it as difficult as possible for them, and if you realy love your dogs, be prepared to do something that the "law" will prosecute you for !!! Cheers.

It's a bit of an exageration to say "they will keep injuring them", as I've had dogs with dew claws that NEVER injured them, but, to me it seems the faster types, like Non- Ped Whippets, Grews, etc, seem to injure dew claws much more than "Lurcher" bred types of dog ! Only my oppinion, could be wrong ! Cheers.
