Jealousy of the pup, proably, mate ! A while back my little bitch caught a rabbit while out mooching, and my Deer x pup went over for a sniff of the rabbit which was on the ground in front of the little bitch. The little'un went for the pup big time; first time ever, but the pup fired back in and put a couple of serious wounds on the little'un ! I parted them, and two minues later they were right as rain, and it's never happened again ! I put it down to jealousy of the pup, but keep a close eye on them now ! Cheers.

We've got friends and relatives in Australia and New Zealand who ask us to bring REAL haggis with us when we go down there. They have "TINNED" haggis !!! Can you believe that;TINNED HAGGIS !!!!! Cheers.

I've never ran the Scottish/Blue/White Hare, but from what I understand, they are far easier than a Brown Hare; and some people say they are even easier than a daytime rabbit. I've heard of Lurchers and even pure Derrhounds getting double figures, so I would guess any decent bred Lurcher should have a good time on them ! Cheers.

Ingredients; 1 Roe liver, 1 onion, 2 cloves of garlic, !/2 lb butter, 1 miniture brandy. Cut the butter into three equal pieces, and fry the chopped liver in 1/3rd of the butter, adding chopped onion and garlic and the brandy. When cooked, put in a blender with another 1/3rd of the butter and blend until smooth. Put mixture into a ramikin, and melt the final 1/3rd of the butter and pour over the pate'. Put into 'fridge until the butter solidifies, then enjoy on toast or crackers !!! Works for me, and tastes great

Doug mummerys? Yep; lifted from "boardogs" site..well worth a look on if you like different crosses/breeds of hunting dogs ! Cheers.

A pair of Australian pig dogs; The white one was Deer/Bull/Doberman, and the gray one was Bull/Grey/ Deer; eveidently good bitches in their day. Cheers.

In the goverment blurb, they also mention hunting as away of controlling foxes. I'ts legal in Vic to take them with hounds and lurchers/terrriers. Cheers.

The lads I was recently hunting with in Vic, take more than their fair share, so at least this will put a bit of diesel in their tanks, although I think they would still hunt even if they had to PAY $10 a fox !! LOL !! Cheers.

The Victoria Government, Australia, is starting a bounty system, $10 a fox and $50 a wild dog; http://new.dpi.vic.gov.au/agriculture/pests-diseases-and-weeds/pest-animals/fox-wild-dog-bounty/terms-and-conditions-of-collecting-the-bounty They say there is that many, it is impossible to eradicate them, but they have to control them........Fancy that; not only being ENCOURAGED to hunt foxes, but being PAID to do it aswell !!! Cheers.

Let me assure you Dobermanns are thick as f**k and certainly have no fire, judge is quite correct, nervousness is rife in the breed.......... Bit of a sweeping generalisation of a breed, that Simmo !!!This one was far from thick, had pleanty of fire, and not a sign of nervousness ! I owned her for over 12 years, she was bred in Holland from German stock, I got her in Saudi and brought her back here. As for the "Urban Myth" of them turning on their master, well, she never turned on me, or anyone else for that matter ! I probably trusted her more than any other dog I've owned.

So, back to what I asked, if they are well fed and housed, will they lay through the winter ? Cheers.

I think when a show is advertised as a "Lurcher & Terrier" show, the gundog types seem to stay away. They all go to "Game Fairs", though! It's a shame, 'cause it would be great to see the best working Pointers, Setters, Retreivers, etc in the ring with the best working Lurchers and terriers, though it would have to be some judge to be unbaised and pick a worthy winner !! LOL !! Cheers. -
I've got a wee bit land of my local council, and have cleared it and put in a few raised beds for growing veggies. I've also built a hen cree from Harris fencing and a decent size coop out of ply wood. My question is; is it worth putting hens in now, or should I wait until the spring ?? Will I just be feeding them all winter, and not getting any eggs, or will they still lay if they are well housed and fed ? Cheers.

I didn't realise it was ANY working Dog; did that include Labs, Spaniels, etc ? I thought it was only sighthound types. But well done to the owners and the judge... I've always had a soft spot for Whippets; and Deerhounds are fine looking dogs, especialy the working ones ! Cheers. -

cant comment on the deerhound , but the whippet does a bit , i know the owner , he worked dogs for years Good to see two such diverse breeds of running dog getting amongst the winners ! No breed blindness there, from the judge !! Cheers. -

Is that a pure Deerhound and a pure Whippet that won the "Working Dog" class ? Complete opposite ends of the running dog scale, but two of my favoutite breeds ! It would be interesting to know what work they do. Cheers. -
If you're going on permission, just call the local station and get an incident number, saves a lot of hassle. Me and Mally were glad we had one when a farmer who saw us lamping his neighbours land, (which we had permission on ), set about us with a 4 wheel drive and a baseball bat !! LOL !! Cheers.

Wern't the wolves flushed out of the woods by the hound types, towards the running dogs ? Cheers.

Ha Ha !! That'll be a long wait mate !! She's only two year old, and needs to prove herself before I even think of breeding from her !! She's just come back from almost two month in Yorkshire, where my dogs were looked after by friends while I was in Australia. She pined something terrible and wouldn't eat, but she's been back in her own kennel for two weeks and is looking good. She ran her first hare of the season last week and took it well, so she's in full training and will be worked hard this season. Hows her brother doing ? I almost picked him, but it was a bitch I wanted, if I'd wanted a
