  1. Having been a around bwra racing whippets my opion is that they are very fine built as they have to be, to get a big a dog that can run well as light as possible. This means they are not as robust as a kc working whippet in my opinion but i would think are much faster pound for pound. You could have a 21" bwra dog whippet running at 25/26lb a kc working type of that size would probably be over 30lb. I used to give my fathers racing dogs a run on the rabbits odd times but they were injury prone so he stopped me taking them out. Sounds daft but i think they are probably to fast and lightweight f
  2. Keeping chickens, growing vegetables, the odd foray out with the dazzler, retired now mate, the good life ! LOL ! Cheers.
  3. I half jokingly broached the subject of lining her with Moscow a few year back, with Joe..... but I decided against having Minshaws in my kennel; my heart and blood pressure wouldn't stand the arguments !! LOL !! Cheers.
  4. LMFAO !!!! So you HAVE had a decent dog in your house !! LOL !! I've still got her mate, she'll be 7 in July, still going strong !! Wonder what her and Don would produce ?? LOL !! Cheers. Haha..i've even had Bruce the wonder dog in my house mate..as for what they would produce i'd say PUPS lol... We should do the line...I'll call them "Lemington Lurchers" and sell the pups for big bucks; there'd be a drink in it for you ! LOL ! Cheers.

  6. She is a nice looking bitch CP and to be honest i'm amazed how racy the bitches are compared to the dogs for whatever reason that may be? ATB Andy. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I think Don over a Greyhound would produce some very nice pups ! Cheers. Would even they be minshaws serious question? I wouldn't care less if the prodgeny were called Minshaws or not, I just think they would be decent dogs for all round work ! Cheers.

  8. Very nice ! I like that bitch I remember seeing "Racing Whippets" that looked like that, back in the 60's & 70's ! Cheers.
  9. Minshaws, Whin, MB, this thread has got the makings of a Classic !! LOL !!
  10. Whin, I don't think anyone, certainly not me, are saying that Whippets are better than Lurchers !! What we are saying is they have a "niche" in the working dog world, i.e. rabbiting ! It would be pretty pointless having, say, a Deer x or a saluki x if all you wanted to do was ferreting and a bit of lamping. Some people, like me many years ago, like to race on a weekend and do a bit of mooching, ferreting, and lamping during the week; what better than a Whippet for that ? Cheers.
  11. Just watched it. Strange looking "Huskies", but very nice dogs, nonetheless ! Cheers.
  12. I don't mean to be a pedantic little prick but was the dog not called Shashi? Never the less, I wish i was there. Well, unfortunately I'm a one finger typer, and I do make the odd mistake ! LOL ! Cheers.
  13. i'm not a fan of the kc either but, as non peds and kc whippets come from the same beginnings many moons ago as the non peds clearly outperform the peds on the racetrack at least it could be argued that they have already spoiled the breed, they do breed truer to type cosmetically ie coat, shape size etc but are they that important I'm a big fan of both types, and have owned about half a dozen Non-Peds, albeit many years ago. Yes, they both have common roots, but the Non-Ped has had so much Greyhound in them over the years, and the Ped has stayed relatively pure, (apart from a few cheats
  14. that was some dog had some pace to didn't they give the dog to some one in the crowed at the end. ATB long dog I had a good coversation with his connections after the presentations, but they didn't give him to me !! LOL !! Wish they had of !! Cheers.

  16. I wonder if any one got a line from Shasi, the last Waterloo Cup Winner, with a Lurcher or Saluki ? Cheers.
  17. He didn't quit; he was sacked ! Cheers.
  18. As much as I dislike the K.C.; it's fair to say that the Pedigree Whippet is probably the ONLY K.C. registered type that still excells at it's origional function. There has been K.C. Whippets that have won Coursing Stakes, gained Rch status at racing, and won B.I.S at major shows. Unlike just about every other breed, the K.C. hasn't managed, (yet),to spoil the Whippet. Cheers.
  19. The Aussies use them in working dog lines for pig, and for running dog lines, but maybe they have access to working Airedale lines... doubt there are any working Airedales in the UK, although I have seen some big, strong looking pet types. Cheers.
  20. FTB...... Calm down a bit ! I just wonder what "sighthound" you like in your Lurchers ? You slated Whippets, but you say you own one ? By "sighthound"; do you mean Greyhound , or just any "sighthound" apart from Whippet ? Cheers.
  21. Aren't Whippets, "Sighthounds" ?? Cheers. read it properly Read it, re-read it and read it again, you say you like lots of "sighthound" in your dogs; yet you slate the Whippet.....which is a "sighthound" !! Cheers.
  22. "Not keen on rough coats" !!! That's you sleeping in the kennel, and your dogs can sleep in the house, next time you're up here !! LOL !! Cheers.
  23. I stopped by Douggies today to pick up some galvy mesh, and had a look round the van. Some one will get a bargain with this motor, the air condititioned dog boxes have to have cost a couple of hundred quid alone ! Cheers.
  24. I don't know about disliking any type, but if I had the room, I'd love to experiment breeding with some of the more obscure breeds; Galgo's, Chartpolski's, Rampurs, Ibizans, Pharoah's etc. There are loads of sight hounds out there, some of which don't even exist in the UK. Cheers.
